Windy's football discussion thread.

He's not going to ever start unless everyone else gets hurt. I don't think this is a suprise to anyone that he is leaving. But we need to grab a portal QB
I really want to see the young guys get some room to learn.

If I were a coach making a couple million dollars I would go find some lower level qb who is going into his last season, has played a bunch, and is looking for a last ride not a starting job. emergency starter and someone who can coach up the youngn's.

we can't afford to put all our chips on the young guys and "hope they work out". Why wouldn't you want to bring in a good QB and up the competition in the QB room? You gotta earn your reps in practice. You don't just get handed the keys because "you are expected to be starting by the fans". And maybe Faizon comes in and is a stud, awesome, but IMO it would be foolish to not look at a portal guy that has experience.

I mean I literally said bring in a guy who has played a bunch, thats experience.

lets say we get some top flight guy for next year, he comes in and has a pretty good year, and then leaves. what do we do then? Bring in another transfer because the other two guys on the roster have never played? its a cycle.

if we are going to do that stop recruiting top end QBs out of high school. why pay them if we are just going to play the transfer game every year.

no. you bring in a portal guy with the understanding that all of them are going to compete for game reps. No one is just handed the keys. It is not any different than bringing in all scholarship QBs to compete to start

Or GMac and Mason transfer.

Meanwhile, in meaningless bowl #who cares, ODU leads USF 17-10 with 5:54 left to play. No Golesh, no verve.

Oh, the drama. USF starting QB is out, and a six year bench warming backup is in taking the snaps to attempt a comeback. The way the team is playing, that’s not likely.
