I was there 50 years ago this coming Fall. Ray Mears’ Big Orange Country got the Ernie & Bernie Show. During their three years together, they made the NCAAT twice (pre-expansion) and won the SEC once. Afterwards, Ernie and Bernard turned pro, and Ray directed UT Martin athletics.

Bama was trying to lose. 3 possessions in the final 3 mins went for naught due to Sears, Nelson, and one other trying to be heros instead of playing team ball. All in all, heck of a game. Damn meteor!
