Windy's basketball discussion thread

University of Evansville is a private liberal arts school with an enrollment of 2,064. Notable alumni include Rami Malek. Obviously, his recent success gave the Purple Aces the mojo to defeat UK.

It wouldn't surprise me if Cal thru that game. Being the #1 this early in the season only makes you, in Kentucky's case, a LARGER target than usual and doesn't allow the team to play with a chip. Now, he has a motivation tool he can use the rest of the season.

Yeah I’m sure he likes to strategically lose. 🤪

Did not know this.

In 1977, UE began playing in NCAA Division Iathletics. That same year on December 13, a chartered DC-3 carrying the entire UE basketball team crashed in a field near theEvansville Regional Airport en route to a game against Middle Tennessee State. Every member of the team and coaching staff on the plane was killed. One player was not able to attend the game and thus was not on the plane; not long after the plane crash, however, the player who was not on the plane was killed in a car accident along with his younger brother.

I know about Marshall, didn't know about this one or Okie St.

That's messed up about the one UE player that wasn't on the plane was killed in a car crash not long afterwards. Wow.

Yea, I was talking to a friend about the game and he asked me if that was the school that had the plane crash back in the 70's, I said no that was Marshall. He said there was another one involving a BB team and he thought that was it. Anyway, I got curious and looked it up. I'd never heard about it before now

I hadn't heard that, it's sad indeed.
