I don't know if that's the official correct terminology, but they basically run the Windows 8 interface as far as I can tell.

Anyway, my mom got one recently, and I only played with it for about 5 minutes when I was visiting a couple weeks ago, but I really liked my initial impression of the user interface. She just graduated from the original razr. Yeah, the one that came out in like 2002.

It's so easy to understand, she even texts now. It's a remarkable accomplishment.

It's really not that different than any other GUI on android or iphone, but thought I'd see what everyone's thoughts on these phones are.

SIAP, didn't see a thread.

Who knows if it will ever catch on. But make no mistake, this phone is a very serious threat in the "ease of use" space. Everything is basically on two screens. The music player has always been the best and several years since it first appeared on the zune hd, no one has come close. Very nice piece of work

It's catching on in Europe.

I bought a small share of Nokia stock in case it catches on here too.

I think it's possible Windows phones will be a serious contender. But, thus far, they have been behind schedule and it's not growing quick enough. Developer restrictions so far haven't been quite as friendly as they could be. That helps and hurts the platform.

They would like to compete now, but I think they have a long term goal that is probably still a year or two away. They are trying to build a solution more like Apple where your desktop/phone/etc. are all together in the cloud. For professionals, executives, IT crew, mom and dad, etc. it could be great.

Only problem is Google is way ahead of them and offers much cheaper, more flexible platform but with added end user complexity. Google is trying to solve that and bring all the stuff together as well.

I'm not suggesting they (G and MS) are copying Apple, it's just the natural progression because the more people can use your product without any thought, the better it is. I think MS is trying to get a leg up on heavy windows users and business and gamers. Not a bad idea. We'll see.

Basically turning into console wars.

It sucks imo. Had the htc x8 4 days took it back for droid dna.

Had neat features but its gonna take them a while to get all their apps up. Though i think their uploading 36k a day. Guess its like any other phone takes gettin use to.

The vibrate sucks, the lock screen button is to firm, and also the letters on keyboard are to small. I sound like a lil beech i know but thats jus my take

I couldnt stream tsr either and downloaded 20+ radio apps. I will say that iys much better than an iphone though.

I'm curious to see if they can win over large companies looking to sync their phones and PCs. It may take awhile as saturation of W8 will be slow in the business world. Plus I've been reading how more and more companies are opting for the Bring-Your-Own-Device approach, letting employees choose their preferred platform.

I just get the feeling that Microsoft is late to the mobile party.
