Wilson coaches say funding cut would be detrimental | www.tennessean.com | The Tennessean

For anyone who wants a synopsis, the county commission will not approve a property tax increase to fully fund the budget presented by the school board so the school board has decided to cut the supplement that is used to pay teachers to coach. As pointed out in the article, some teachers will coach for free and some will not thereby leading to Title IX issues if by chance you wind up with one less girls' sport than boys' and someone (and there's always someone) sues over it.

Hooray for that county commission for not approving the property tax increase at the rate wanted.

I went to the Smyrna/Lebanon game, afterwards talked and ate with a few teachers from Lebanon and Wilson Central. I think it's just ploy to get more funding and no way sports will ever end. Wilson County has always had trouble funding schools , always an issue.
