C'mon. He was the Raiders HC, and USC's OC. His dad was an NFL legend, and EO is nothing but a great recruiter. 4's and 5's want an NFL head start, and an NFL coaching staff in college is that. We had a ridiculous situation last year with several coaches making lateral moves from the NFL to UT. That was too good to be true, just like it has turned out. The only big name NFL guy who'd be loyal to UT that we're getting anytime soon is Peyton, hopefully.

And for everyone freaking out that losing Garza loses this class... Really? Garza? We've already lost the Kiffens and pretty much everyone else, and these kids are still Vols. We have yet to hire a DC, and you think Garza matters? Loften, Hunter (didn't he commit after an in-home with CDD?), and Dixon will come to UT if they want a chance to start 4 years, or if they love UT. They won't if they want to win easy games from the bench, or love another school more. Most likely they weren't coming here with Garza anyway. We'll end up with some good, competitive kids. Stop freaking out.

Then what the HE** is all this other confirmation on this. I need to see an article on this quick. I am so sick and tired of rumors. I am going to get off board and go back to reading articles with confirmed information.

How are those things accomplishments? Being given a job title doesn't mean you accomplished anything. It means you accomplished getting a job you didn't deserve. He failed big time as an actual coach. He didn't do much better here either. Since when is one game above .500 anything to brag about? That's his best record to date. If you want to talk accomplishments, he accomplished losing the NC against Texas when he called for Lendale to get stuffed on 4th and 1. Awesome.

Seemes Willie Mack Garza packed his bags in the middle of the night and simply left town. Doesn't sound like he had much, if any, communication with anyone before bolting the situation. He has not returned texts or calls from VolQuest.com the past 24 hours.

So true. If he had a buyout, at least we don't pay that, and better get him out now so he can't feed anything else to x. O wanted a bunch of recruiting info when he left, I hope willie hasn't been a source for what o wanted. The safeties in tx are the only recruits that this might impact. Let's see if dd can pull one of those out. I don't known how realistic the chances were even with Willie. Go dd!

We're going to be better off in the long run. CDD knows what he's doing. Calm down folks, we're in a transition period AGAIN and it's going to take time to do this thing the right way. Log off VN and breathe...

Not that I'm putting on a tinfoil hat, but I wonder if X planned this? Why would Garza wait a week after X leaves, recruit for us, and then bolt to USC? Could this have been a concerted plan to cripple our program?

I don't really think it's a conspiracy, but geez...as the song goes:

You might be right. CWMG's departure may acdtually be what CDD wants. Folks were wondering why two DB coaches. Maybe UT was keeping him on board long enough to help hold recruits until new staff could establish relationships with them. Maybe by bringing Dooley's DB coach in, UT was giving him a nudge/chance to get hired away and avoid the buyout cost. Also, just because he is leaving doesn't necessarily mean UT will lose recruits. Too much premature panic and harsh judgement of CWMG going on in here, IMO. Maybe folks should wait and see what the facts are about his departure and what impact it ultimately has on recruiting.

I don't know what to believe at this point... one thing I do know is that if he was gone, officially gone, he would be taken down from the UTsports.com coaches page.

They make those changes quickly.
