but how many Candace Parkers will THIS williams bag?

A more appropriate topic for VN to ponder.

First, BW needs to shave the 'stache or grow it out to something that he can shape. Right now it looks like someone rubbed mascara on his lip.

Shelden Williams had about 4,972,834 times the athletic ability that Williams has. I'm not trying to beat him up, but he and Chism are nowhere close to being an inside presence for the 07-08 Vols as was suggested above.

i've noticed on here that if you coach or play for ut, there is no way that you can be as good as coaches or players from other teams.

Isn't that the truth. We compare BW to Shawn May one day the next he can't jump. :eek:hmy:

Big alone doesn't get you 16 and 14.

BW has better hands and touch than his distant cousin Shelden. Shelden is quicker and more explosive. Who cares?
Big alone works when you're the only one on the floor. He does appear to have decent hands and instinct for the ball off the board, but he's athletically challenged to say the least. I like the guy and hope he turns into Rick Mahorn, I'm just not expecting it.

Sean May can't jump, either.
but still has better hops (if hops can be used in association with these two) than Williams. May is also strong as a horse with surprisingly good touch.
Touch has never ventured near Williams.

I hope Williams' late start at the game has hurt is development and he'll catch up quickly. Rarely is that the case for someone with is apparent athletic gifts.

I hear you, but I just disagree.

Considering his late arrival to the game and the fact that his body has changed so much the past year or so, I think he's an athlete who's blossoming right now. A guy his size doesn't need to be super quick or have big hops. His other skills (including his BB IQ) can make up for these shortcomings.

Also, remember he played his best ball near the end of the game, so his stamina is at least good enough right now for him to play hard for 22 min.

Again, I disagree, Papa. I know he wasn't facing Love or Beasley or Hansbrough, but I thought he made several nice catches and shots. One was a pretty strong pass right at his knees that he grabbed and put in quickly. He also had a nice catch and half hook in the lane for a bucket.

One time I remember the ball slipped out of his hands going up for a layup. That's the only knock against him I can remember from that game.

Sean May can't jump, either.

The appearance similarities aside, I think this is why people are comparing the two. They don't need to jump to get their points or rebounds.

And you know every single announcer is going to make this comparison the rest of the season. It'll be one of their bullet points in their prep sheet.

I vehemently disagree with that.

Me too, he has great touch and great hands. Can't shoot a free throw but, around the basket, I don't think he missed. How many bunnies has Duke and Chism missed?:whistling:

like when he tracked down that ball, got control of it and bounced it off a WKU player out of bounds while flying out of bounds?

Get a clue.
How does that remotely relate to someone's shooting touch? Ruben Patterson has made three of those plays a night for about a decade in the NBA. He can't shoot a lick.

I vehemently disagree with that.
I'm judging by what I see from the FT line. He actually does show some decent touch around the basket at times, but that's hard to gauge touch watching crip shots. No doubt he has pretty soft hands, but remember, I'm comparing him to Dan Federman.

Williams had a slight coming out game tonight... other teams are gonna have to start scheming for his physical presence in the middle and soft hands... the kid is gonna be a star... Chism and him are gonna be great inside this year for the Vols!... All worries i had about us missing Duke inside are gone but i still hope he is able to return... Does anyone have stats on Williams tonight, I know he had about 10 boards before half way mark in the second... Thoughts?
