I gathered from that press conference that Fulmer wasn't really interested in whatever Hamilton had offered with the athletic dept. He mentioned looking at other coaching opportunities a few times during the press conference this afternoon. I believe he'll go somewhere else to coach, so just wonder whether or not UT fans will still follow his career.
As long as he isn't at an SEC school, UNC, ND, or Miami...I really think I'll pay close attention, and root for his success.
How bout you??

I'd cheer him on as long as he wasn't playing us. No need to hate the man, right?

I believe he's done. What you saw was a football coach with the belief he can still do it. I think a little time off will make him realize it's not worth it

I don't think he will be coaching at any other school. I think he is either done for good, or will maybe get some sort of job in the Athletic Department, possibly Athletic Director in the next few years. Why not let him be in control of recruiting?

He ought to replace Mike Hamilton, but that probably won't happen.

So long as he's not at Auburn, Miami, or Nortre Dame, yeah, I'd cheer for him.

Bitter feelings right now. I doubt phil's ego could handle what someone would offer to pay him. In all likelyhood he is done.

Fulmer has never been one to fire a completely ineffective coach. Why would anyone want him to be an AD?

I agree. We all know that Fulmer is a great recruiter and networker.

He would do twice the job that Hamilton is doing.

I hope not. A bitter ex-coach exacting revenge on the next head coach? That would have been like naming Majors AD when Fulmer took over.

not sure you want the coach who was just removed to be in charge of bringing in players for the newest coach

Whoever said that Fulmer is a better negotiator. No. He has an agent. And what training does Fulmer have that qualifies him to run a multi-million dollar operation like UT athletics?

Why in the world would anyone want Fulmer in the altheltic department and what new coach would want him looking over his shoulder? If he does not have enough money to live about 3 or 4 lifetimes, give him a job as a fund raiser for the university. Just think of the wealth that he has accumlated while at UT. Maybe Washington will hire him.

You know at 1st reaction you wanna say no div 1 school would consider him unless the $$ was basement level and or they had no other options. Wouldn't the Washington Huskies job be a good fit? Bringing SEC style to a west coast team?..Thoughts?

For a man who's spent his entire life in east Tennessee, I can't imagine he'd even consider a move to Washington.

I also can't imagine Washington would want anything to do with Fulmer at this point.

I doubt that would be a realistic scenario.

I can't see him anywhere else. Maybe after a year off he could get the itch, but I just don't see it.

Mike Hamilton has been in charge of the upgrades to all the athletic facilities and he brought in Raleigh and some guy named Pearl. Seems like Hamilton is doing one heck of a job. No way is Fulmer prepared or able to do a better job than Hamilton is doing as AD.

Meh...with ESPN taking over the SEC and Granny Clampett calling Rich Rodriguez a Nazi, I think I have a good guess of where Phil might end up.

Completely agree. Has also shown poor judgment in hiring coaches as well. Not what I want in an AD.
