Will we be ranked in the top 25 in 2018?

Jones left a huge mess almost as bad as Dooley.

I don't see a top 25 finish or barely more than a winning record the next couple of seasons and that's assuming Pruitt can actually handle the job.

We were beat up with injuries last year, maybe worst ever. Most will be back healthy. Will make bowl game next year.

I'm very Disappointed how many Tennessee Football Fans have accepted Losing & Mediocrity- If we don't hold out Administrators & Coaches Accountable for Losing we will get another Decade of Bad Football- 9 Wins is the Minimum that should be acceptable to our Fanbase & Praising a Coach for Winning 6 Games makes us the new Vanderbilt- Our past 4 Recruiting Classes Ratings prove 9 Wins should be a certainty with competent coaching- Lowering Standards & Expectations gets us more Excuses & Champions of Life Trophies yet a 9 Win Standard is now being Scoffed at- We been Paying for Filet Mignon but getting served Chopped Steak- Demanding we get the Steak we paid for & not Chopped Steak covered in Steak Sauce by the media should be the Standard for Tennessee Football Fans- 9 Wins or Bust is My Tennessee Football Standard

I suspect we may see a couple of new years come and go before the Vols show up in the polls again. My criteria of success for the new staff is whether they can make life uncomfortable for the Bama's and Georgia's of the SEC, and btw, whip the Vandy's and Kentucky's.

I hope so. I don’t care if it is 25th to start out with, dog gone it!:):thud: At least it would be better than nothing!:good!:

I don’t think we’ll be top 25 ever again.

Sorry but firing Fulmer was the biggest mistake a program has ever made. The worst case scenario has happened, and we are never going to recover as a program.

Thank our red neck fans on vol nation.

Dude. No pep talk can fix the reality.

Reality is we just had the worst season in our school’s history.

We have completely rooted our program with a culture of losing.

We are not ever going to be good again. Fan interest is going to nose dive. Tennessee is no longer a football school.

We just had a disaster of a coaching hire. Just accept that Tennessee is now a third tier school. It’s reality now.

This is tough math, but concentrate and stick with it. If you take the records of all the FCS teams and combine them, you get ........ .500. It's a zero-sum game. Not everyone can win; this isn't, Lake Wobegone where everyone is above average. There is no end in sight to the dominance of Alabama and now Ga. With its recruiting base and a competent head coach, Fla. will rise again. and now look at south Carolina. They have been better than Tn almost all of the last ten years. With four losses penciled in every year right off the bat, we are looking at 8 win seasons at best. Tennessee has maneuvered itself firmly onto the short end of the stick, and no, the state is not on the verge of becoming a hotbed of recruiting either. That's one of the dumber ideas thrown around here. 3w2e4 (that last is my cat's contribution; some would say the only useful part of the post.)

If we close on recruiting huge and supposedly make a few more splash coaching hires, we could be a top 30 team going into week 1 next year. Beat WVU and we are definitely ranked.

Dont agree. Dooley left a mess solely based on O-Line depth.

Butch didn't leave a great line, but there is clear talent all around our roster. Young wr's, rb's, and qb's. TE is only concern area on our offense.

Helton is the real deal. Look forward to having an OC that is also our QB coach. I was sold on Helton the minute I saw USC play OSU in the bowl game. Its clear that Ty was a big part of USC's offense and playcalling.

Defense is going to be fine.

Doing that, and possibly beating Mullen's Gator at Neyland would definitely get UT in Top 25.

Disagree with you on the defense being fine.

There is going to be serious growing pains changing the philosophy and any team starting Jumper at LB has depth chart issues.

Not really seeing any difference makers up in the front 4 either.

There is some talent at the skill positions on offense but the offensive line has to stop hamstringing them.

No reason for them to not make a bowl but I think a top 25 ranking is a stretch.

Yeah...not saying they won't make a bowl but finishing top 25 is a stretch.

These schedules almost always set up for 6 games that should be wins.

I'd be happy with some Memphis BBQ Ribs next year (6 or 7 wins plus a bowl game). It will take a couple three years to get back to Prime Rib Roasts (competing for the East). Some patience is called for after the Perfect (sh!t) Storm that crested with Jones' firing this year.

9 total wins might get us in the final Top 25.
Like 8-4, with a bowl win.
A lot would have to go right for that to happen.
It’s possible I guess...🤓

Byrd going to corner, Kirkland and Kelly being back, and out front seven plus recruits will be fine. Gonna be a fun ride.

Not at the beginning of the season, but you bet your ass at the end! That's when it counts anyway.

Although I agree with what you say, I suggest you get that turd off as your pic dude.

Curious, are you a grown man? If so, may i ask why you are butthurt over another grown man for a decision he made in a sport that has no real serious impact on your life?

Yeah. Gotta win 2 out of 3 MINIMUM every season against Florida, Georgia, Alabama. There really is NO reason to not be competing and in the hunt for a few SEC championships every decade. Every Class should get at least 1 shot on average to be playing in Atlanta for the SEC. This is NOT pie in the sky expectations, rather within reach if acts are gotten together.

I disagree with nearly everyone who has posted. I believe the 2018 class is loaded with talent just as the 2017 class was. Can anyone think of any College team that did well with bad coaching?

The team was soft. Poor conditioning led to mass injuries. Please don’t forget the team played nearly the entire year depleted from injuries.
