Will Wade has been contacted...

You do realize that this is the same fanbase that convinced themselves Dooley was a good hire, right? If anything, recent history has shown that the majority of Vol fans will give three years to just about anyone as long as they smile at their press conference.

Yep. Within 3 days of the hire, we'd hear about how Kentucky fans are sad because they wanted him as their next coach.

I read the thread title, "Will Wade has been contacted".

Is it wrong that I immediately think Hart had some secretary call Will and say, "Stop calling us here at UT, your not a candidate for the basketball opening".

I mean, he was contacted.

:p

It appears Wade is a good coach, it could be Hart is doing him a favor by throwing his name out there as a possibility for name recognition purposes.

Yeah, I was just making a bit of a joke. He looks like a decent coach and just needs to prove it over another couple years. Who knows, maybe we are back here 3 years from now and his name is top 2-3 on the list. :p

Well, your choices as a "fan" are not many. You can either support the hire until he shows he can't do the job or you can find another team to follow.

You forgot the third choice: live on VN 24/7, b1tch and moan without end, and never acknowledge any positives, however grudgingly. :hi:

Yeah, knew you were joking. I've read several of your posts concerning the coaching job. I agree with the vast majority of them.

Dave Hart has not contacted Will Wade at this juncture in the search to talk about him taking the job. He may have asked him for an assessment of some other candidate, but he has not talked terms with Will Wade. If he has, then that means we have reached the Derek Dooley section of the list on day three of the search. Which in turn means that it's time for everyone who loves Tennessee basketball to reach for that cyanide pill they have had in the chamber since the Gruden days.

If He's hired it means that either everyone has told Hart where he could shove the job or Hart was going to be extremely cheap right from the beginning.

Or it simply means Hart thinks he has his man. I am not against a lower tier candidate at all, IF Hart really is convinced that he can become, pardon the expression, another Pearl.

Anyone with any memory at all will recall that when Pearl was hired, many people came on message boards criticizing the hire, and then criticizing every move that Pearl made. They already had his assistants picked out. Then, he lost a top recruit. Many predicted doom within the first two weeks. Personally, I just had a feeling that Pearl had plenty of confidence in his own abilities to coach. Lucky for us, I was right.

I wish for once that we had the money to hire a sure thing and not have to take a chance on a lower tier coach, but if Hart knows what he is doing, we will probably do just fine either way.

We already had a basketball coach named Wade.
I think we all remember how that turned out.
This one doesn't even have a son named Allan.

Then in 10 years when Wade is the new Coach K everyone will be saying how stupid Hart was for not hiring him!!

Big fan actually. I want him to stay where he is. :)

this ... while I know WW will leave Chattanooga for a big time job some day I am hoping it is after years of success here.

although I would welcome this hire it a couple of higher profiles turn us down

Guy may be a good coach but how certain can you be after one year?

Just seems like this AD never learns.

He's actually a really good coach. We need someone with more experience and this wont make the fanbase happy, but I would take him over Tubby Smith all day long.

This was also said when UT passed on Jay Wright, Bill Self and Gregg Marshall. And yes, all those listed were willing candidates at UT in past openings.

Surely to goodness Hart can't be that stupid. We need someone with more experience. Ben Howland comes to mind.

This AD has made one major hire at TN. That ended up being a very good hire. I have confidence that Hart will make a good hire. He is in no way Mike Hamilton .

Rumors swirl during a coaching search. We have no idea who Hart has on his list. Look at the Cal hiring Martin deal. That was a complete shock. We may get someone that is never mentioned seriously by any media outlet or on any message board.

UTC was 4 and 7 in their last 11 games and was running a painfully slow and boring half court offense.
