I am a big one for John Gruden but if not, I would not be upset with Kiffin. Look how Oakland has fared since he left. I think he is a good coach.

Being someone from the west coast and having coached in the Pac10, I believe that the Washington job would be more appealing to Kiffin.

If that's the case than there was no reason to force Fulmer's resignation during the season. None whatsoever. There was a reason and I'm fairly certain that reason was handed a Termination Letter recently.

There is another reason to do it now, and that is timing.

If we win the last three, the firing would not have gone over as good as it will go now. I do think our chances are low to average for winning all three, but I also say these 3 games are 3 in which are some of our more winnable games.

First things first, he's a big name in Southern California as well as the primary reason USC started reaching out into the nation for picks they couldn't land in SoCal.

Also, he did better than I honestly expected him to at Oakland. 5-15 there is much better than it looks, even with a terrible division.

I truly am unsure of this answer. Wasn't he only the OC at USC for one year? (The year after Chow left.)

I think the biggest reason is still going to be recruiting. With a new HC officially named (especially one very actively involved with recruiting), we have much more clout to let the new HC pick his guys instead of playing with another coach with another scheme's guys.

He is definitely renowned for his ability to recruit. Not to mention he's young, which is an obvious plus for a university that likes to keep their coaches in place long term.

Yes, he took over for Chow, but was the passing game coordinator in 2004 (when Leinart won the Heisman).

USC's Offense in 05-06 is nothing to scoff at.

One of the top defensive minds in all of football (College or NFL) would probably follow him here. His dad, Monte Kiffin is a defensive genius. Seeing Eric Berry in the Tampa 2 would be one of the most beautiful things to ever take place in college football.

The man is 68 years old. Lets be honest here, he will maybe coach another 3-5 years with Tampa Bay. I understand they are father and son but did he follow him to Oakland? Kiffin is not our guy.

And that right there is where the Kiffin and Davis feud began. Lane and Monte wanted to coach together but Davis shut it down. That is when it all started.

Kiffin also has some pretty strong ties to Ken Norton Jr. and that would be a huge get as a DC if he doesn't bring in his dad.

Hamilton said we would introduce a new coach over the next several weeks. Since there is still around 4 weeks left in the regular college football season, that would make sense. However, if several weeks means less than 4 weeks, he could be talking about Cowher or Kiffin.

They would be smart to get somebody in place so they could hit the recruiting trail and try to save whatever is left of our recruiting class....Got to impress some folks and make them forget about Phil or We could be in for a long long winter.
