My bet is yes. I bet we get someone who is coaching now, so I doubt that coach would want to make a change until the end of the season.

I think we will hear something the monday after our bye week. For Hamilton to make this move now with 3 games left, he has someone already lined up i would guess.

It would depend on the guy I suppose... some might want to be announced with a good amount of time to work recruits before Signing Day.

No way. If the rumors are true, and Gruden is number one on the list, you guys can wait until January to hear a decision. Hell, you can probably just plan on waiting that long anyways, because most of the coaches we are looking at will be coaching in bowl games in late December/early January.

We will know as soon as Kiffin and Hamilton work out the details. It will be before the season is over and Kiffin will hit the recruiting trail.

Technically, you can't even offically talk to a coach who is active in a season... a guy like Lane Kiffin however is not on contract and can be contacted immediately...

I think if we were eyeing another coach, Fulmer could have bowed out semi-gracefully at the end of the season.

With the rumors of UW, Syracuse and Clemson being interested in Kiffinout there... it would be safer to land Kiffin now, if we were indeed looking at him.

The timing of the whole ordeal is no coincidence.

these are my thoughts exactly... add in the timing of this in conjuction to kiffin publicly expressing interest in the vacant washington job, and the fact that the AD wont have to fork over money for a buyout to hire kiffin and i think there is a pretty good chance kiffin will be wearing orange next fall...

I know this, and thus this is why I bet it's not until the end of the season. I think we get someone who's coaching now. I know Kiffin has been mentioned, but I guess my hopes have me thinking he will not be the hire.

Is Kiffin the big splash that would have warranted firing our NC winning coach with a 75% winning record?

They have to know who there man is' or atleast the one they are going after. I really cant see them letting the cat out of the bag until the season is over.

An AD can't but I am pretty sure a search firm (or similar) can.

Personally, I would like them to hear a "no" from Gruden before moving on to Kiffen. I wouldn't be too upset with Kiffen though.

the warranted piece was the horrendous results this decade, which is nearly gone.

I know his record this decade (and I did want him gone), I'm just saying for MH to make the decision and not have a big name splash, might be career suicide.

But official talks cannot be opened until their season is over... which will be after ours is, that's for sure.

If that's the case than there was no reason to force Fulmer's resignation during the season. None whatsoever. There was a reason and I'm fairly certain that reason was handed a Termination Letter recently.

but that assumes Kiffin, or whoever the hire might be, utterly fails.

Absolutely. Not on the level of a Gruden or Davis but he is right there.

If it wasn't going to be Kiffin then Hamilton would have waited until the end of year and let Fulmer bow out gracefully. It wouldn't have made a difference since you coulnd't announce anything until then anyways.

Kiffin is the only name that makes sense as of right now.

So, I'm just trying to get educated and I don't know much about Lane. What makes him right for the UT job?
