It's likely, because last year their numbers were abnormally high. If America still hates Lebron as much in 2012-13, I'd be surprised.

It shouldn't if you've kept up on message boards throughout the lockout. Plenty of people are taking pleasure in the fact that the Heat could lose a season, thus shortening their window. It's not just Lebron that people hate either, people hate Wade and Bosh too. Regardless of your feelings on the matter, the majority think what the did is a b**** move on just about every level. They virtually trashed two franchises and ditched the city that supported them because they had to play with each other to win. And so far, they still couldn't win a championship and might not with their lack of post presence.

If you believe what Shaq said, the Cavs pampered Lebron and did everything for him and wouldn't call him out for half assing it on defense. Dude appears to have no loyalty to anyone but himself and by bolting town, any title he wins won't be as highly regarded throughout the NBA. He'll probably get a ring at some point but he has eliminated himself from joining the ranks of Jordan, Kobe, Duncan, Bird, Olajuwon etc. Everyone thought Lebron was the best in the NBA while in Cleveland and thought he could win a championship there... I thought so anyways and I think most fans did too. Apparently we were wrong and he agrees/had no faith in himself either or he wouldn't have left his home state that completely babied him to join up with Bosh and Wade(better/more clutch than Lebron at this point).

So in the end, be prepared to be surprise. Virtually no fans like what they did and will always hate the Heat as long as they're play there. Even the NBA is trying to put an end to it. If they don't, they might as well cut the NBA to 15-20 teams. What's the point of a small market team drafting Lebron, Carmelo, Paul, Bosh, Howard etc. if they have the ability to blackmail their team into going where they want when they hit their prime? Paying them 80 million while grooming them to win a championship somewhere else is b.s. At this rate, the days of a team winning a championship with the superstar they drafted are coming to an end. Forget about Dirk and Pierce winning a championship with the team that drafted them... they'll just threaten to leave for nothing at the age of 25-27 if the team won't trade them to a team of their choice.

Really hope the players finally accept the 50/50 offer and the new agreement prevents this b.s. from ever happening again. If not... like I said, just cut the NBA in half. No point in the Nuggets, Raptors, Cavs and Jazz existing. About to add the Hornets to that list. None of those teams won titles while grooming those players but I guarantee some of the teams they were traded to will win after the fact. So much for small market teams winning titles and being competitive.

Lebron would have had people tuning in no matter what. The start of last year should have been a trend if they could have started the season on time; The Miami Lebrons are easily basketball's most compelling story since MJ.

Why is that? Most people would put the Pacers in that group.

LOL, attendance rankings the last 2 seasons:

Cavs = 3rd, 2nd
Jazz = 7th, 6th
Nuggets = 16th, 13th
Raptors = 19th, 14th
Pacers = 30th, 27th

If you think Chris Bosh is better than LeBron James, you are either blinded by hate or literally absurd. Wade is more understandable but LeBron is still very likely the best player in the NBA.

OKC, San Antonio, Dallas and Miami all say hi.

Dallas and Miami are large markets. Utah's been competitive for like 30 of the last 33 years or something. Portland's usually good. Small markets can support teams. They'd be winning more titles without a luxury tax.

By the NBA standards Dallas and Miami are not.

Players rejected the offer. Union will begin process of disbanding.

So long any chances of a 2011-2012 season.

I didn't care until now. I just wanted the NBA to be there when the Super Bowl was over.

Will be funny when the players lose a season and the owners win in court.

I don't know where people get the idea that owners are getting rich off the players. If they're telling the truth, the majority of teams are losing money. I know the Pacers have lost money like 18 of the last 20 years. That's an expensive hobby right there...

There are a number of owners who aren't even looking to profit. It actually is a hobby to some of them and they're satisfied breaking even while being a fan(who happens to own the team).

You can argue both sides but in my mind, the players have always been the greedy ones. The quality may drop off but there are plenty of other basketball players who would gladly replace them for six, seven and eight figure salaries. How many of the players holding out could find other jobs that offer anything close to that? One? None? At the end of the day, the owners still have other businesses that net them millions. Without the owners, the players would be lucky to find a job at all. Definitely wouldn't be making hundreds of thousands of dollars

I think it's a bit overstated but probably still the case that half the franchises in the league will be losing money any given season. It's cyclical, but I'm sure Miami lost money a couple seasons ago. AA Arena was a ghost town before Lebron showed up.

They're not telling the truth. They can't possibly be losing/making this little when the sell-prices of franchises are always on the rise.

That being said, the players passed up on a great deal when it was 53/47 in their favor.

I'm wondering if the players will lose in court. It's most definitely a monopoly and its protected status as a monopoly can change.

Nice thread, and to each his or her own...but to be completely honest, I could not care any less about the NBA, or the NHL.

Two sports I haven't spent a dime watching or buying merchandise from...and never will.

Maybe if they merged and played basketball on ice, I might go see a minor league game.

Go Vols.

It's definitely looking like there will be no NBA season. Right now I don't care even a little bit, but I probably will miss it come April when there's no playoffs. Well...a little bit.

Hardcore fans like me miss it now, but the casual fan will be really upset after the Super Bowl and March Madness conclude.

Same deal. I'm ostensibly one of the few NBA fans on the board, and nobody cares now but as soon as the tourney is over, all that will be left is NHL, MLS and early season MLB. Not sure any three of those ever really draw great numbers.
