Will the Vols Win the National Championship?

They are still not consistent enough on offense to make a run thru NCAA tourney. One bad O game and your out. Very tough to play 6 consecutive great games as the competition ratchets up each game

Wade screamed at the refs the entire game. He walked out of the coach’s box onto the floor numerous times. His face turned shades of red and maybe a bit of LSU purple. He questioned every call that went against LSU. Wade went belligerent b/t 2-4min mark after Uros blocked a shot that should’ve been called goal tending. That was a big play as the Vols went on a run and “ballgame.”

The sad thing is his players took cheap shots. There was one play where the LSU player made a football “blocking move” and into one of players “manhood” area. It was called a flagrant so… but players follow the lead of their coach and Wade is bad. The players had to be separated 30 min before the game. But Uros mouthed off, too, and shoved a player during the game.

We don’t see it on TV but Barnes rides the refs, too. I didn’t hear him use profanity during the Vandy game (we were sitting close to the floor) but he does go after them, esp Valentine. However, Wade doesn’t show any respect and says every four letter word invented. He reminds me of a Bobby Knight.

There was a lot of thuggery going on. Uros simply stepped up, and countered it a bit.

I think this could be the match that lights the fire for this team. You have to have a bit of extra motivation in order to win these conference games, and to win in the tourneys. I think Uros can be a big piece to the puzzle, not as the most talented, but simply as a key piece to the puzzle, and as a motivator. I think that is what Coach Pearl does best (motivation), and what Uros and ZZ are doing for our team.

Edit: To answer the OP and others, I think Tennessee has as good a chance as anyone in the top 10 - 20 range. I don't think we have played our best basketball, and as others have said, some players have capabilities to take another step before the season is over. We don't have that one superstar player, unless Chandler steps up, but we have a lot of pieces to make up a really good team, if everyone peaks at the right time. Can Uros keep improving? Can Mashack add more offense to his game? Can Chandler (or Powell) start hitting his 3's like the first few games, again? Lot's of reason for hope.

If Uros can be a consistent force throughout the year with Fulky and BHH giving good minutes off the bench I like this teams chances, just need our shooters to continue to get better with the same consistent defense you never know how far they can go after that…KC and ZZ being able to penetrate and dish to an open Santi or another shooter is a great element we didn’t have consistently last year. This team might be dangerous if it hits its stride at the right time

I really think this game toughened us up a bit. We fought, scratched, and clawed from start to finish. We didn’t play perfectly, but well enough to beat LSU by 14. I think it’s a good sign when we don’t play flawlessly but still win due to grits and guts.

Thuggery is correct.

And the fierceness didn’t just start last night. Last week it was some Vandy players who provoked us, and it was Scovi and Plav that ripped their jerseys open and said, “Bring it!”

After LSU lost to Alabama Wade posted his Twitter diatribe about “having his players’ backs…” Well if he had their backs last night, he had to roll them over because Tennessee put them on it.

Well lets see,
Most fans I see on here are not demanding CRB be fired. They are asking he get up and coach these players.
That happened last night, Check.
They have ask the team show some consistency and intestinal fortitude, that happened last night. Check.
They have ask that some players see more bench time and others see more playing time, that happened last night. Check.
No CRB does not deserve a raise or extension. He's well compensated. Check
Will the Vols win the national championship, hopefully one day. However since CRB has seen one final four in his 35 years as head coach the odds are heavily stacked against this team winning a championship.
Hell I would just love to live long enough to see a Tennessee mens final four. Check
You aren’t assigning credit for the things CRB does and also did last night to VN are you?
