The same thing they have accomplished for the last several decades of playing CN as their first preseason game.

I think this game is more of a favor to CN, who get to play in front a larger audience, get some cool memories of playing in TBA against the LVs, (and I believe earn some revenue).

Carson Newman is alma mater to my son and daughter-in-law, as well. It gives Carson Newman TV exposure and hopefully some a paycheck. Also a chance to see Lady Vols.
