I just read the other thread about UT winning the East and found it surprising that you guys were simply marking a "W" up for the Florida game. We do have problems with new offensive and defensive schemes and questions at QB, but spring training rumors were that the number one class from two years ago is starting to show up.

Frankly, I admit we have "issues" (as the talking heads say), but considering Bray's performance in the spring game, the recent history between the teams, and the fact that the game is in the Swamp. it just seems almost arrogant to me to write us off. But that's just me.

For those reasons. Not to mention the somewhat questionable secondary that you have. I would say that we DO have a legitimate chance.

Anyone who thinks Florida won't be a tough game is fooling themselves. Florida always plays well vs. Tennessee and I don't see this year being any different. The big difference this year is that Florida isn't nearly as talented as they have been in years past, and Tennessee is arguably more talented than they have been the past few years, so many Tennessee fans think that we have a fair shot at beating them.

anyone marking the fla game as a "W" for this coming season needs to seriously look where we're at right now.

I didn't realize that people were marking it up as a win??? If they are that is outrageous.

But for the first time since...maybe 06/07, going into the game I feel like we have a chance.

I'm extremely skeptical of our chances to win that game for many reasons, but that definitely isn't one of them.

It's foolish to look at spring performances as any kind of indicator about performance in the actual season. That said, I think most reasonable UT fans know that Florida is not an easy win. New schemes and new coaching staffs are always difficult to deal with, but it isn't like UF suddenly dropped off to UK levels of talent. The Gators will definitely be a tough out, although I believe that UT has an even or better chance to win for the first time in 5 years or so.

I have no prior recollections of you as a poster on this site so I will refrain from drawing any conclusions specific to you as a person. Furthermore, I do not fundamentally disagree with the content of your post. Having thoroughly qualified my remarks, however, I will state that ARROGANCE seems to be genetically encoded as the collective middle name of Florida fans.

I'd say we have the best shot in a while to win. NOT saying we are, just saying we have a good chance. I expect a great game and possibly Bray's "legit" coming out party

I am glad you brought this topic up AR...because this game, really once again is the most important one and best one to start discussing right now.

Lets face it, if we lose to Montana or Cinncy then we have no business worrying about anything else so we can just hope to chalk those up as wins.

This Florida game, while Tennessee still being the underdog, will have the closest vegas line of any in the past 4 years.

I see the key to this game being how Tyler Bray and the Oline handles playing in their real first true road enviroment. If they can handle that well then I see this being a game that plays deep into the Fourth quarter (that will likely be sloppy) and will be anyones game.

If they aren't ready for that stage yet, then I could see the Gators riding the crowd and their excess talent to a big win.

Thoughts?

please continue to use the O&W game to judge Bray. And if you could pass that along to Muschamp that would be great

If tenn is fundamentally sound (which they usually aren't against florida), than tennesse can very easily win.

But, I think tennessee has allowed non offensive td's, turned the ball over in the red zone, and other various problems several times during florida's streak.

Last year, florida tried to return the favor, fumbling a punt and blowing coverages. But, simms threw a pick in the endzone too

I don't consider this an automatic "W' for UT. However, for the first time in a number of years I don't consider it an automatic "W" for FL either. I still think FL has more talent and depth than UT does at this point, however the gap is closing. I do believe the difference could possibly be the fact that UT is into year 2 with the same coaches (offense and defense) and FL will be at year one. Also, I think having this game early in the season favors UT this year. I think it will take FL to about mid-season before they really start to hit their stride with the new coaches. JMO

Your team can't score. Our team can. So, yes, it will be easy. Think about how easy it is for a rock star to bang Kate Hudson. Now think of something even easier. That's the gators.

I'm marking it as a W. And I'm outrageously good at gambling on college football. No, seriously, I got skills.

Tennessee will be at least a two touchdown underdog against Florida. How can you say their talent level is down. They got more talent in their 2009 recruiting class alone than Tennessee got in four classes. Still I hope Tennessee can pull out a win, but it is far from a sure thing.

Bray and Co. are going to shine on O and our young undersized DL is going to be in the backfield pressuring Brantley all day. I'm marking it down as a W as well. It's not a lock by any means but I'm pretty confident this is going to be a good day for the Vols. JMO

I am very concerned about floridas front 7. That will be the deciding factor in the game how we handle them up front. They have an all world team up front talent wise.
