Will the 2025 Season be a BUST?

I was thinking we could do 10-2 again but now I'm thinking 8-4. Probably split the difference and go 9-3

UGA, Bama, and UF will be favored and Oklahoma looks like a toss up. Still going to be a fun season but playoffs might be a step too far for 2025 but hell you never know.

6-6. It’s the situation Nico left us in. Pretty simple.
It would take the perfect s**t storm to only win 6 games with our schedule. It could happen but I think Huep is too good of a coach to let that happen. We have plenty of talent. We just need experience and consistency. Our defense is talented enough to keep us in all the games we play. The question is how our offense gels

Issue isn't necessarily Nico but other players we have been losing since December. News is out that Slaughter is leaving and possibly Boo Carter. We can't hold onto a team.
Huep was able to get us to 7 wins with duck tape and glue. Don't jump off the ledge just yet. We still have a ton of talent.

The fact of the matter is that we don't know what 2025 brings. How many of us thought Hendon would usher in a fantastic year. We are edging closer to being a SEC powerhouse. Depending on the development of our 2 scholarship quarterbacks and the portal QB we could still surprise. As a former track coach you simply cannot tolerate meddling parents. They are a cancer and never work out well ala Todd Marinovich!
Exactly and we still have PLENTY of talent. Mostly unproven but it's there. We also have one of the easiest SEC schedules this season.

We won 8 games with Joe Milton. I’d be shocked if we went 7-5 or worse with the overall talent we’ve amassed. 8 wins is never great, but I’m not lighting the torch and breaking out the pitch fork for 8-4.

I’d also say a lot of our opponents as of now are not trending in the right direction or have a lot of uncertainty. OP says none are guaranteed wins. Maybe. But none are guaranteed losses either. The law of averages will kick in and we’ll win our share of the games. Could be in a combo least expected (like beat Bama, but lose to Miss State), as Tennessee is apt to do, but this team is winning at least 8 games.

I think we will get between 7-9 wins. I have faith in that because of Heupel. That would probably be a good season, all things considering. Not Heupel's fault overall, we just keep swinging and missing with a lot of talented players (especially on the O-Line and at WR).

Meh we were a 9-3 team at best with Nico this year.

I think we will somehow survive the inevitable 8-4. Lose to the big 3 and either OU or Arky.

Wasn't so long ago that an 8-4 season would have been some silly fever dream. Now it's just kinda, meh.
We get both OU and Arkansas at home this year. Should be fired up for the Arkansas game. OU scares me though. Landed a good transfer qb and will be better simply because of their horrible injury luck last year.

Realistically, the schedule now has several question marks:

- Syracuse: this team is no slouch, and it's the first game. Idk what the odds are, but this game can easily be lost if we aren't ready.

- vs ETSU: W

- vs Georgia: L

- vs UAB: W

- @ Mississippi State: They aren't good, but it's an SEC game on the road. Should win this, but you know.

- vs Arkansas: They beat us last year when they had no business. It's in Neyland, but who knows.

- @ Alabama: L

- @ Kentucky: W

- vs Oklahoma: They kept it within striking distance last year, and they look to be improved this year. It's at home, but easily another game that could go either way.

- vs NM State: W

- @ Florida: L

- vs Vanderbilt: W

With the portal and each team re-calibrating year in and year out like it has to now as a result of the portal, I think any team in the top 40 can surprise, in either direction, and the years of confidently predicting even a range of where you will end up are long gone.

A bust? no. Are we going to the playoffs? highly unlikely. But it was not likely with or without Nico. We drop 1 more game than we would have anyway.
That being said, in 2022, we had a QB and some receivers show up out of nowhere and sent us to #1 for a week....soooooooo...........

I support what Heupel did and think it was in the best interest for the team and for College football.

Unfortunately, this late BAIL by Nico (Kiffin 2.0), could cause this season to be a bust. You basically flush the work from Spring practice on offense and start over from Square One.

Looking at the schedule, given the current QB situation, there are no lock wins (with the exception of the patsy games).

I hope people are patient this year and don’t start calling for heads to roll if this season goes bust. We could take a big step back this year.

Define "bust". If 6-8 wins is considered a bust then yes this season will be a bust. I am more concerned about our lack of pass blocking than I am about the loss of Nico. He isn't irreplaceable but we have had a very difficult time fixing the oline which gives me no confidence for a young quarterback, especially one not as mobile as Nico could be at times.

I don’t know if we were for certain better than 8-4 this year with Nico unless he took some kind of huge step forward. The guy was talented, but he overthrew so many open receivers, missed reads, held the ball too long, etc. last season that I had my doubts about how far he was going to step up.

If we get to 8-4 with a new QB, that will say something about this program’s strength.

Nico’s timing for this mess was so sleazy and unprofessional. Him and his “camp” can suck it, same as Lane Kiffin. I got nothing but contempt for that guy.

Just today local sports radio (99.1) said 6-6. Ha ha. Everyone wants better, but replacing the QB, RB, four OLs, virtually all WR production does make realists optimistic. The defense will be serviceable, the offense probably won’t.

Looks like Peyton Lewis will have a shot at breaking Sampson's season rushing record, sooner rather than later.

CJH will run the ball. A LOT.
He won’t get anywhere close. Every team they play will dare them to pass and play run. It will be a rebuilding year. People just need to be okay with it.

Listened to a reporter last week that covers the bulldogs. Didn’t sound real promising about their qb or their backup RBs (starter is good). Was impressed with LBers on defense. Acknowledged this isn’t the same Ga teams as “21 & “22.

That will also depend on Halze and showing if he has the ability to be an SEC OC. They can reach 6-6 or 7-5 with a few breaks here and there. Win the ones they're supposed to and be competitive in the others. Don't get blown out by UGA, Bama or Florida.

One thing that gives me a ton of hope is we didn't expect much in 98 either after a major QB left. Let's just get the W against Syracuse (ironically the first opponent back in 98) and get the victory train rolling! Vols by fiddy!

If we set our expectations with 8+ wins then it could be. A young unproven QB and a young WR group is a bad combination. We could go 8-4 or we could just as easily go 6-6 there’s just so many questions in the passing game.

I have no idea what to expect. Lots of unknowns. Replacing QB, RB, almost the entire starting O-line, and almost the entire WR room. Some new pieces on defense as well.

Can’t wait for the season, I expect us to do well. I think this group will be motivated and ready to play. Lots of players ready to prove they belong, lots of doubters and lots of motivation. We’re gonna be ready! GBO
