I am certainly not a person to jump ship when the going gets tough. However, until Tennessee can recruit at least one top five running back with the size, strength and speed to compete in the SEC we are going to remain a middle of the pack team. I have not seen anything out of Poole, Lane or Neal which makes me believe we are going to have reasonable running game this year. After recording the first three games and focusing on the running plays our backs just cannot hit the seams fast enough or with power to make the running game work. Lane has some ability in the open field but cannot get past the line of scrimmage. With Hunter out for what may be the remainder of the season the diminished deep threat is just going to make the running game more difficult. I am not say we are going to fall apart. I believe we have some fine young talent at receiver. I believe the player with the most talent is Arnett and he is a true freshman and will need time and first team reps. Remember Hunter and Da Rick had talent last year but did not carry the load at receiver. All of the ranked and completive teams in the SEC have at least one premier running back which the team can count on to carry the load and loosen up the running game. Until we get a premier back we will continue to struggle. I am not sure who is the best recruiter on this staff be Dooley better get some big time backs this year or the DD show could end up moving to a new location. Which would not like to see as I believe he is a very sincere coach and will stay at Tennessee as long as he is welcome.
