will simms transfer?

The only thing good about reading a post by utmba is that you can click the ignore button shortly there after, and never have to make the same mistake again.

Most kool-aid drinking fans did that long ago. The truth is just too hard for you guys to grasp, in advance of the reality.

Some of you even struggle with accepting reality when there is no other alternative.

I don't believe they do but can use a redshirt if still available (like for Bryce)

I think that may be correct. Gotta sit out for sure, but could use a redshirt if avail. So, Simms could possibly transfer to D1, but would have to redshirt and then play one year if so. And if he hasn't redshirted yet (I'm not sure).

All just academic, I think. I think he stays or in the worst of circumstances goes to a level where he could play right away. Man, I'm not looking all of that up, tho! lol

If a redshirt is available, it's used during the transfer year.

Pretty simple... sounds like Bray whined about playing time and Dooley gave it to him.

Much like your whining about my posts, only I could care less what you think.

No.

It has a lot more to do with Bray being a better QB.

The plan all along was to let Simms take the lumps behind and inexperienced OL. Then, when the coaches felt comfortable with Bray, he was going to start. Kiffin knew and it didn't take Dooley long to figure it out.

That's consistent with what PJ posted. I pretty much ate crow with his post, but you know I don't mind eating it again for you, Justin.:hi:

I do hope Bray turns out to be a great QB. I expect we'll be crappy again next year, but by the time he's a junior, I hope we field a decent team.

Although Bray is the starter right now (and should be!!), I believe Simms will be asked to step in and win a game before this season is over. This could still be a good story for both QB's.

I really don't care who starts as long as we win

Where would he go? Oklahoma Panhandle State? Montana Western? Kentucky Christian?

He'd be better off hanging around and keeping the arm warm as a backup.

He can come play here at my school. We are a nationally ranked D-II school with the number one running back in D-II and who was number one in all of college football before week 7. Our QB and pass offense is attrocious, though. I mean, I played against our current QB in high school and that was measily A high school football. Simms would be a huge improvement.

Maybe its just wishful thinking. Ironic, really. My D-I football QB sucks, my D-II football QB sucks, and my professional QB is underperforming. F my football life.

BJ made the move to FCS and it has proved to be a wise one. He has likely played his way into a very nice professional career (A big game this week against Super-Cam). Simms should make the move, plus he would have instant elgibility. FCS football is not all terrible and many players are able to parlay playing in the lower division into solid NFL futures. I like Simms he did an admirable job this season and paved the way for the Bray era to begin.... please be better than the crompton-era! ha

BJ will never play in the NFL... not even close.

Matt Simms is all Volunteer. Don't know how anyone could watch the way he plays for us and think otherwise. Does he want to start? Yes. Will that desire lead him to transfer? Maybe, but I very much doubt it. Could be that he's seen so much NFL that moving is part of his outlook. But I think he's discovering what college football is all about at Tennessee. The guy has now played against some of the best teams in the country and held his own. No way he's going to walk away from more of that.

I sure hope not. He isn't going to be an NFL QB. Sorry, Matt...you just aren't. Then again, you have the opportunity to get a free education at a great university, while learning from great coaches and being a solid backup. I could see him having a coaching career with his passion.
Also, Dooley would never let this happen.

Matt Simms is all Matt Simms(as he should be). We used him, plain and simple, and now he will be used as a practice qb and a serviceable back-up. I will say I myself am thankful he helped us through an otherwise tough(er) time in Volunteer football by playing his heart out. He would stand there(too long much of the time), take the hit, and get back up to do it again. A few times, he did let the ball go just before he took that hit, thus creating some pretty good highlights of his toughness. I think he will ultimately stay at TN because, as some of us on here well know, he will be one missed block from being the starter again. If not, I wish him the best. You can become a pro out of a smaller school(especially if your last name is Simms). His dad won a Super Bowl and if my mind serves me correctly, he went to Morehead State.

He can come to UNA. We've already got 2 Tennessee rejects in Brent Vinson and William Brimfield.

Why would he transfer? If he is a competitor he wouldn't quit, he's compete. This is the problem I had with BJ, he didn't want to compete. He quit and will always be a quitter.

We didnt use Simms. We needed a QB and he needed out of Juco. Perfect symbiotic relationship if you ask me. Sorry for him that it's not working out...but he (1) holds the ball way to long (2) takes way to many sacks when he could throw the ball out of bounds (3) turns the ball over too much. I know I know that our line sucks, but they are growing and Matt seems to be going in reverse.

MS needs to show everyone he's a team player by accepting his current role of as backup QB and by being ready to play if needed. You lost the job....want it back? Then win it back by getting better...
