Will Sankey Step in at some point?

It seems as if the Administration has or is losing control if the situation. Does Empty Suit Greg Sankey step in and say that UT is reflecting poorly on the SEC, and "help" get it straighted out somehow?

Under what authority? What UTAD is doing might be criminal to the fans but it’s breaking no SEC bylaws or NCAA rules. He has no authority here.

Well we have someone currently in a Federal Court case facing possible prison time pulling the strings,

Simple answer no! Sankey only cares about the tv footprint bringing in cash to conference. Some team from SEC will almost always be in the National title hunt. It doesn't matter that Tennessee isn't one of those teams.

I believe the SEC has to sign off on any and all head coaching hires, so obviously they have some kind of authority in the process.

I've sat back and have not posted in weeks, but, this fan base cannot ignore that they are part of the train wreck on this whole coaching search. This is just another example of how out of touch some of you are with the rule of law and the NCAA.

That being said, I am proud of the fact that some of you used social media to voice your opinion on the coaching search and I have to lay a lot of the responsibility on Currie for this embarrassing moment in UT history. Does UT need to fire him?...........yes solely because he has placed UT in this mess by not hiring a search firm, spending UT dollars to jump around the states, and basically building an image of incompetence of the Athletic Department.

This is a nightmare, but we shouldn't add to the already "mob mentality" that UT has been labeled with, its a double edged sword, coaches are now reluctant to be part of one of the greatest institutions in the country, over fans taking their rights to be heard. JG father is right, Pandora's box is open, and for all the right reasons. College Football has been a runaway train for years, and now fans are starting to express their thoughts like no other time in history, but lets do it with intelligence and class. UT fans know sports, better than some that get paid to report it. Let's act like it.

Don't be a smart a$$! Fans are distraught right now with the situation and the last thing the wanna hear is some rival fan throwing shade. Kick rocks!

nobody that doesn't want to, or doesn't have to, is going to step in to this situation.

in fact, i'm sure there's plenty of people trying to get as far away from this as possible....not get closer to it.

and even if the conf thought about it or was approached about it...the response would probably be something along the lines of "you got yourselves in to this, you're going to get yourselves out of it...good luck, God bless".

Wrong!!!!! The were trolling there very own fan base with Gruden mentions. They go quiet knowing darn well the fans wanted a splash hire. What do they do?! Roll out SchiaNO. Like the fans are just going to accept that. Fans have had enough of this crap and are letting them know this is going to stop! Stop NOW!

If Sankey "cares...about bringing in cash" then he should want all the teams in the SEC to be competitive.

However, not really his "job to fix Tennessee."

He could have refused to sign off on Schiano hire due to possible Sandusky ties, but doubtful. I do not think he would stop a hire unless they guy had charges or charges pending.

Lol hell probably more like to refuse kitten due to previous ncaa sanctions and not wanting to deal with his personality.

I am hoping all this is the breaking point and get back to what Tennessee represents.

I would also add something that I think you implied.

Once we have a decent hire, you may not personally love it but we all need to support the coach.

For example, I am not a fan of lame kitten but if he is hired then I will be on the lane train!

Suggesting the SEC commish get involved because the fans are sad is laughable.

Ask Vol fans to accept sh!t hires?

"Please don't throw a fit and reject a hire that was obviously propagated by the same man (Haslam) who controlled the last 3 (could even call it 5 with Schiano and Brohm) terrible hires."

Okay Kiffin wasn't terrible, but the coaching search was a farce - see Gary Patterson's comments and comments from guys like LWS about how Kiffin was already hired before we gave "courtesy" interviews to other guys.

Brohm would've actually been a good hire. Too bad Currie managed to yet again ef it up.

He should just suggest that the other SEC schools vote to push UT out of the SEC.

Their fan base, their administration is unworthy of continuing in the SEC.

Get rid of them.

What could he possibly add? He has NO authority to tell any member school who they should hire. He can only step in if a school tries to hire a person with a show cause if that.

However to your point I remember when at SEC media days Mike Slive was very outspoken in introductory comments on "sincerely welcoming Derek Dooley". He obviously got fed up with all the attention Lane Kiffin brought in unique ways to the SEC.
