Will Pearl Be Interested In The Indiana Job?

I have heard from a very reliable person, that if Pearl leaves, Bobby Knight would definitley be interested in coaching the VOLS...very interesting :good!:

I think our definitions of "reliable" may be a bit different

My reliable source told me we would try to bring Adolph Rupp back from the dead to coach us if BP left.

Just got a call from a reliable source. Phil Jackson will be the next head coach. The ink is drying on the cotract right now.

I don't think Pearl ever leaves here for monetary reasons. We'll pay him what we need to pay him to keep him. If he ever leaves, it will be because he wants to -- and it'll probably be for a more storied program or to coach at his alma mater (neither of which you could totally blame him for -- you could be mad about it, but you could see why he did it).

That's it. No sense in worrying about it.

Until that happens, I'm relishing the present. Good gosh ... we're one of the Top 4 teams in the country! How surreal is that?!?!

I'd say a coach proving himself to be a liar, a scumbag, and a recidivist cheater is more than "a couple of things going awry." Kelvin Sampson should have already been fired.

What he said!!

Pearl will not go to Indiana, there is more chance that Knight would, and that isn't going to happen either.

If I were IU one of the first calls I would make would be to Tubby Smith. I am not a bb guru such as hat but he would seem to be a calming force if there are troubled times ahead.

Living in Indiana and an Indiana basketball fan, no excuses even a bigger fan of Coach Knight...a few observations.

Not everyone was pleased with the hire of Sampson for many of the reasons expressed on the preceding posts, however Mike Davis was not up to the job and his routine was getting old fast.

As to Pearl, I think he would come if asked, but I don't think he will be asked due to the old big ten Illinois baggage...they still hate him in Illini country more so than Eric Gordon!

I definitely beleive Sampson is through and will not return for 08...as it should be!

A recent rumor as of last night is Scott Skiles, he lives in Bloomington.

As interesting as it may prove to be I don't see Coach Knight returning. I for one would welcome him back with open arms and tears in my eyes, he and Coach Summit are the two best basketball coaches I have ever observed.

I have not asked for favors here before but I would appreciate no one ever comparing IU to bama in any context. That is absurd at all levels.

Indiana Univ. will rectify this situation, and I expect swiftly.

PS Tubby ain't coming either, he and Sampson are very tight. Wittman might be a candidate as well as Mike Woodson (I was in favor of one or the other when Sampson was hired).

I'd say Tubby is looking at Minnesota as his last collegiate job. If he leaves Minneapolis, my money is that it's for the NBA.

I was just looking at it from the point of Tubby bringing the respect factor with him should there be sanctions ahead. I would put my abilities of selecting a BB coach on par with Coach Dickey's. Therefore my contributions to this thread shouldn't be held against me.

Not to be difficult or contrary but Matta has recruited the hell out of Indiana high schools taking many of the best to OSU. It is my understanding he is quite content at OSU, has all that he wants, and probably figures he can still get a good portion of the cream of the crop of Hoosier players. I would be very happy to have him in Bloomington (another guy who should have got a look when Coach Knight left, and probably would have jumped at the chance...then).

I do not have inside knowledge, but next to Tennessee football I love Indiana basketball, and keep up to snuff on what is going on.

I begged my son to leave IU when they fired Coach Knight and enroll at UT, but he was already established in his classes and friends. It tore me up to send money to IU without Coach Knight, and I can assure you there are many IU fans like myself that are very very concerned about the shape of the athletic program as well as the university in general. This has been a major concern in Indiana for some time.

With that said...does any one truly trust the NCAA to have all their ducks in order? I don't especially with the dishonorable Myles Brand running the circus. I can hear him chuckling now over the IU problems, and it grates on my nerves...almost as much as IU being compared to bama!

Another name I keep hearing here in Indiana is that of Stallings...he did recruit / coach in the state for a while.

Im sure that the IU faithful would be completely underwhelmed by the selection of Kevin Stallings. Also if Pearl leaves, you have to believe that he's laid a decent foundation to continue our upward climb.

hate, what's your take on how long CBP will stay at UT? There seems to be a lot of folks who don't really know thinking he will leave soon. What say you?

Kelvin Sampson is on a game-by-game basis right now,if Indiana goes on a 4 game losing streak he may be fired now but either way unless he leads Indiana to the Final Four, its likely he will be fired or forced to resign at the end of the season.

My uncle is an Indiana grad and he believes that Indiana will be interested in Bruce Pearl.

That is one program I conceded in another thread Pearl could leave us for.

They are more prestigious basketballwise than us.

Not a chance in ---- Coach Pearl can do no wrong Here.
