Our O-Line will be better next year due to the experience gained this year. However, it will still be 1 Senior, 1 Junior, and 3 Sophmores, by no means a "veteran" line. Depth will be no better... Back-ups will still be true freshman.

It's hard to believe previous coaches allowed us to get into this shape.

Center is still a huge question. Gooch is one season removed from wrestling at 215. He's snapping at a listed 305. That transition doesn't happen in a good way in one year or two.

HOPEFULLY THE SP TEAMS (RETURNERS), WILL BE SO GOOD WE WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT DEPTH ON THE O-LINE. THEY'LL JUST RETURN THEM ALL FOR TD'S OR ATLEAST WITH IN LEFTY'S FG RANGE!:dance:

our o line starts five freahmen or sophmores this year ,by the start of next year the line will be a year more experienced and have a year of strenth and conditioning and will have the bodies to substitute,i believe by stone and james junior year the o line will be as good as any in the country and should have couple to three all sec linemen and atleast one all american

I wouldn't be suprised if Clear or Richardson (both?) are DT's at some point next year. This is, of course, if we get these guys. However, it is definetely hard to play as a freshman on the D-line. UT better get at least one JUCO DT. Couch seems like the best (but maybe unlikely) possibility. I really have no idea why Jesse Williams doesn't give Tennessee strong consideration. Walls and Martin will be back, but how good will they be? I think Martin will probably come off the bench because J. Smith is going to be a star. He looks like Leonard Little at times (high praise?). We may see Jackson start at DT if we don't get JUCO help, with Walls' injury. I have always liked Willie Bohannon, and Corey Miller is gonna be good (he may move inside). As to the thread question, the O-line will rank in the top half of the league next year.

As far as I'm concerned Pope is gone now. I hope he never plays another down. Since scholarships are for one year at a time, we should pull his and give it to someone more capable and deserving.

Can't say that I disagree with that. He just doesn't seem to be cut out for SEC football.

It would be in the teams best interest to have Propst start over AJ for the simple fact that he's had a full year of experience, playing time, and a college conditioning program. Starting a freshman on defense in the SEC is never an ideal situation, however, with the current state of affairs it may be a necessity....

It's always situational. Eric Berry came in just fine as a true freshman. But he was a special player.

I still think we have a fair amount of competent depth at linebacker, we just don't have anyone who will really be feared. Maybe AJ can be that guy, but we have guys who can get the job done until he's ready. Don't forget that Greg King and Nigel Mitchell-Thornton have starting experience too.

I shouldn't have said anything...it was just that "straw" post today for me....after seeing so many.

My bad. Some days you just suck it up and go on...and some days it just....whatever the end of that might be.... :crazy:
