It’s all about getting the right next HC....but at the same time we are thin at every position especially OL....we cannot afford a mass exodus from this recruiting class due to the Jones firing...let alone all that are jumping ship now

Possibly and the new coach will be named at the most optimal time when the most eyes are on CFB. Right after the SECCG. The SEC very well could get 2 teams into the playoffs and all the networks will be talking about Gruden coming out of retirement and headed to Knoxville! UT will dominate the headlines the day after the SECCG stealing the thunder from both UGA and Bama!

I would think there would be relief amongst the players once the S.O.S is kicked off Rocky Top. Never hire a Clemson nor a Bammer grad for an AD at UT.

Old Times yes but not now. Think recruiting and December early recruiting. 11/12/17 fire and Hire Bring the recruits back. Soon!

Could be a great day. Currie could announce that Butch is fired and a big time coach has been hired.

Or, it could be a bad day. Currie could announce Butch is fired and a Google coach is hired.

Or it could be a disastrous day in which Currie announces that Butch will be here in 2018.

My bet is on one of the last two options.

FWIW...Friend of mine said he sat next to Kansas AD on flight last week. Said they got to talking about UT and Currie. Said that he expected that somewhere like TX would pick up Currie because he thinks he's one of the best few young AD's in the country, and that he's very precise and measured in how he does things. Said he knows Currie personally, and was surprised he went to UT, but previous ties had a lot to do with it.

That would coincide with descriptions of Currie as a "hardcore pragmatist."

If we were talking about another program I could see this happening, but were talking about Tennessee I truly believe we're cursed. look at the past 30 or so years, we should have at least sniffed more than one championship. we seemed to always come up short even in the "glory" years. Not to sound like a downer, but my goodness! I've been following the Vols since 89 we seemed to never been able to get over that hump. Fulmer may have sold his soul in 98. there's my :twocents:

Yes, I’m tired of this BS football program. The laughing stock of all of college football. It is unacceptable to me...
