I wouldn't read too much into that game as far as defense goes. It was a rivalry game that had #1 on the line and Texas won. I would be more than thrilled with Chavis if he gave up that many points on our way to being ranked #1. If you look at his defenses from winning an NC at LSU to the defense he ran at Auburn and the defense at Texas now, he is getting it done. He knows Georgia (played there), Alabama (coached with Saban), Auburn (coached there), and LSU (coached there). He would be perfect at Tennessee and I prefer a defensive guy when going to the swamp rather than someone trying to run a track meet against Urban Meyer on offense.

I cant really say too much as I dont follow texas. That game looked much like a track meet though. He would have to hire a great DC if he came here. Chavis would give up far too many points in a game like that.

I like the way you think. I hope the powers that be making coaching decisions for Tennessee have the same opinion. I'm afraid they're looking at a Tommy Bowden type.

He was picked because he went 12-0 1998 at Tulane, and was a hot commodity(Bowden name)..

No other reason.

If Muschamp is a guy they are considering then the UTAD may want to keep an eye on how well Clemson's interim HFC performs.

12:33 PM EST UPDATE: *** Tigerillustrated.com has learned that Clemson Athletics Director Terry Don Phillips met with assistant coaches this morning, encouraging each and every one of them to rally around Swinney for the remainder of the season.

*** Swinney is a legitimate candidate for the head coaching position, and is highly respected by the Clemson administration and Phillips. One source told Tigerillustrated.com this morning, "They're going to give Dabo a chance to win the job. He is a candidate."

*** Clemson is holding a 5 p.m. news conference today.

*** There is discussion now on possibly awarding defensive graduate assistant coach Jeff Scott work coaching wide receivers, while Swinney focuses more on his interim role.

*** It is not known at this time whether or not Swinney will take over play-calling duties.

*** Should Swinney not be retained as the head coach after the regular season, Tigerillustrated.com expects Clemson's administration to look at two candidates in particular - Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp and former Oakland Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin.

Especially if we get embarrassed by Alabama like last year.

Also add the Kentucky streak coming to an end this season.

Muschamp is hands down the hottest up-and-coming prospect. He may turn out to be much more fizzle than sizzle but there will probably be a bidding war for his services amongst multiple ACC and SEC schools. If you want to shoot for a Billy Donovan type home run, Muchamp is the guy. I understand that most people will demand someone who has a proven record of success as a head coach at a high level, which is also fine with me.
