Pretty dumb assessment. Played different teams, had different practice opportunities, and a hundred other factors. A person can cite statistics to show just about whatever they want to believe. All three of our QBs this years were somewhat "new" to the starting role. All three will be better over time with experience, age, strength, training, etc.

A bad QB can look good behind a great OL. I hope we hire a new HC who can bring in a good OC-QB and OL coach that will turn this current mess into the best nationally. And then there are receivers and running backs. And a defense that doesn't turn the game into one of those 60 to 60 events...see Those teams out west. There is talent here and a lot of injuries. A really great HC hire will be critical in putting out the dumpster fire.

Good Lord, he is young and still getting experience. You think Peyton was great his first year. A big part of many posters problems are their expectations are not realistic

I want everyone in this thread who is seriously evaluating our QBs to look at where all of our QBs and former QBs are/were with and without Butch. Most of them without Butch have been like NFL players/good college QBs and with him have been mediocre/terrible with Dobbs' Junior and Senior year being the only exception. Sometimes it's just that simple, some systems are garbage for QBs.

True. JG played better teams than WM showing how much better he is.

It's funny that people that bashed Dobbs and claimed running ability didn't help QBs use WM half a step of speed on JG to discount how much better of an overall qb he is.

One major upside for WM is he has not been here long enough for this staff to “coach him down”. If the next coach runs an offense that will require a running qb then WM should be the guy and JG should transfer. This would most likely be short lived until the new HC brings in his own recruits and replaces him.

All of sudden Fans on here are concerned about JG being able to run. When 95% of fans on here was complaining about Dobbs running too much and not being able to pass. Wonder why no one wants to coach UT. Hands down JG will be a better passer than all QBs. He has the arm and the big thing he doesn’t force throws which leads to INTs. That’s why he has better passing ratings. Once he get a coach I promise Fans will change. No oline and blocking come on folks. McBride showed some good things but he still under JG

To me, its obvious McBride has better instincts & pocket presents 🤕

However, JG has more ability, arm strength and speed.. JG is slowly gaining awareness & looks much calmer on those screens putting nice touch on the "easy" throws. And hes standing in there and throwing instead of just taking off. It is much harder to break a young qb of tucking and running but im not convinced McBride was panicked either.

Fully expect all qbs to get a fair assessment and compete w new coach.

JG may be winning out right now w better ball protection hes really improved on hand offs. Ultimately i think its sack/wild throwaways. JG wont throw it away sometimes and McBride is blindly chucking for the sidelines. Team takes beatings but JG fired up like some daggum rockstar ++ Swagger/leader

And another thing... JG looks slow because hes getting sticky feet as result of scanning and predicting. TRUST when I say this is much better than happy feet.

SO many doubted dobbs.. JG is ahaead of dobbs/vs point in career. And hes learning on his own like dobbs did as i also agree w you all its obvious qb coaching has struggled. JG has potential to surpass dobbs if u can believe that.

McBride is the better runner, but I think he's also more likely to throw the ball into traffic

Dormady will be your starter next year.. Out of all the QB's he is going to benefit the most I like to see Tennessee run more Pro Style and let him throw it. At least when he was in the game the offense didn't look bad..Coach should have just stuck with Dormady

Agree 100%

JG appears to be thinking too much...constantly hung in indecision. McBride is much more natural.....a raw Fitzgerald

It’s hard to assess these qbs. I think we call this year a wash and start over. It’s unreal that we’ve used three qbs and all three are injured. First order of business has to be offensive line.
