If LK gets this program turned around how long do you thing he stays before heading back to the NFL? Or do you see him being a Vol for 10 years or so?

Depends on what we pay and how happy he is in the college game. Either way, if NFL GM's come calling it will be because he is a winner at Tennessee.

Here is my bold prediction for the day. Kiffin has reasonable success at UT over the course of the next several years, and the day comes where Pete Carroll goes back to the NFL. Enter Lane Kiffin at USC, and we're looking for a new coach.

4 years, and he's gone..
He'll either be a winner and the NFL will line up, or he'll struggle and the new AD will have to fire him

That's nothing. Tomorrow they'll be speculating on who his replacement will be.

What I like is how people act as if that's a bad scenario. If Lane performs well enough at Tennessee to merit NFL consideration, that's a good thing.

Exactly . . . Why would you ever not want your coach to be a hot commodity?

I agree. I'd much rather be bringing in a new coach with our program on top than bringing one in with our current state.

BTW, ARKANSAS JUST SCORED....31-30!!!!

It's no different than all the hand wringing everytime some blog mentions Bruce being courted by another school. Why would anyone want a coach nobody else does?

it is not like UT has had a problem with head coaches jumping ship. if Lane Kiffen is successful, i dont see him jumping ship for USC, that easily. maybe the NFL, but as has been stated in this thread, that will mean he is kicking a@@ here.

If Lane Kiffin is ever offered the USC job, he'll be out of Knoxville as quick as he can get a private jet gassed up.

I agree but I dont think we have to worry about that unless Kiffin has already rebuilt UT. There is no way they offer him the job if he cant fix this mess.

I hope Kiffin exceeds beyond our dreams, with 2 conference championships and a NC in 4 years. If that makes him the highest paid coach in the NFL the following year.....we'll just have to suck it up and deal with it.

I think everything is forgetting that we have a coach that no one else wants until tomorrow. Lets hope that Kiffin leaves for the NFL in 4 years. The program would have to be in great shape for that to happen. But don't forget we still have deep pockets. Go CLK!!!!! Go Vols!!!!!!!
