if he refuses to give Stephens a chance when/if Crompton keeps playing badly and is the main reason we continue to lose games?

I say let him start Crompton next week at Florida and by the 4th quarter and if/when he starts playing like crap, bring Stephens in to finish the game and then let him finish out the year. I'm afraid if we continue to lose with Crompton that there won't be very many fans at Neyland the rest of the year.

Surely Nick couldn't do no worse than what Jonathan did yesterday.....but then again, I'm not a coach. :p

If Crompton continues to play like crap the next 2 weeks, I think Kiffin lets Stephens play. I think he will do this sooner rather than later if he just really stinks it up.

Wouldn't be real fair to pull him in the Florida game if he performs badly - imo - because anyone lining up behind center next saturday WILL perform poorly against that Gators defense.

Crompton will start the FL game but if he starts his routine performance then I fully expect Stephens to come in. Starting Stephens against FL is setting him up for failure.

Kiffin will let Crompton play most, if not all of Florida. I don't see how he can stick with him if he has 3+ INT's again.

Chances are relatively high Stephens starts Ohio game.

next week is likely to be a worse go around for this team than yesterday. NS will have to get a shot very soon after unless JC plays flawlessly. He can play flawless and we can still get romped. But with our OL, he won't be flawless. SO Look fo NS versus Ohio and Auburn..

What you should not expect from change though is very much improvement in play. Might get a little or it might also get worse. Won't change the ultimate outcomes of games...

I seem to recall Kiffin saying that when he made his pick as to who would be the starter this year, that it was really close between Stephens and Crompton.Kiffin said it came down to Crompton having a little more accuracy than Stephen's in passing.

As to losing fans,I would hope most fans would see that Kiffin has little to work with(qb's).I think with all the hype that we fans have seen from Kiffin since his hire,we expected this to be a fairly decent season.I have a lot of faith that this staff will produce a great team eventually.

If Crompton absolutey is atrocious, like 3 picks in the 1st half, i could see Stephens in the 2nd half, Stephens in the Ohio game and let Nick be prepared for the SEC season.

won't work that way. Lane said to the media before the season he pledges to not change/swap/shuffle QBs in the middle of a game

I expect to see JC ask to be pulled by half time.....I hope Kiffin sticks his butt back in to finish his last game as a Vol.

Crompton will play all of the first half Stephens will play the second half the 3rd quarter with the first team offence and the 4th with the second team offence just to help prevent injury. Everyone including the coaches know that Florida will kill us and thats why they will play Stephens the intire second half unless Crompton goes 8 for 11 in the first half and has at least 80 yards passing, and if that happens then the moon will fall by the middle of halftime. I think by the time we play Auburn Stephens will be the starter if he dosent do anything stupid when we play Florida. If Stephens has the starting job by the Ohio game and we blow them out which we should and we beat Auburn with him starting then his is our starter for the year.

Don't forget about recruiting, if Kiffin shows he has a quick trigger to pull players for bad performances some of these recruits may get nervous and not want to play for us. Kiffin needs to stay the course for a while and let Crompton work his way through this. Who knows this may also be a key for us to get better QB prospects.

So, basically " if/when he starts playing like crap " - we're probably talking about the 14:32 mark of the first quarter.... Right?

Except Kiffin's ass is on the line in this game. If its a close game at halftime (which it won't be), but if it is, and Crompton stats are lik 6-14, 50 yards, 2 picks, he'll pull him. NO doubt in my mind. And i know it won't be close, but i'm just sayin.

what about the seats in Neyland being empty without fan support?

If JC throws 2 picks, in the first half against UF, it won't be 10-10 at the half. Like it was yesterday. He has to play exceptional just to keep it respectable.
