Will Jalen Hurd make an All SEC Team?

Did you notice Collins when we played Arkansas? Had over 150 yards rushing against us. He's good

Collins is slept on. He is a good power back with good acceleration. Love the way he leans forward to get a couple of more yards.

I'd say Hurd is the better all around back in the SEC when it comes to blocking, catching, and clutch. Fournette has the best talent and mixture of speed and power but he hasn't sold himself to me yet. To me which is arguable, he lacks that AP mentality consistently. He could be another AP if he really puts his mind to it. Henry is a little overrated because of his run blocking and his ability to be tackled. He hasn't shown the absolute power he should have at his size but things can change.

Intuition. When you look at a back like Henry, he isn't going to get much faster. He can't get much stronger. The reason why he can't get much stronger is because when your already squatting 500 pounds, coaches tend to prevent you from going to extreme weight to prevent injuries, so therefore the most I can see is him getting to 600 pounds. He isn't as thick as Eddie Lacey, Eddie is the same weight and much shorter, I think about 5'11, but possesses better shiftiness. Derek Henry will be a good back, but he won't amount to an all pro back. He is much like a bigger mark ingram.... Now fournette is an absolute freak. So now compare Henry to fournette to drive the point home. Fournette is about 6'1 and 230 and runs probably a low 4'3, and he runs to punish people but also displays the ability to juke you. Yes he bad a bad game against Alabama but as a running back those things happen. Fournette has the ability to take his game to the next level As impossible as that seems. Jalen Hurd has all the potential possible. Cobb and Webb are the reason for UT becoming a school rich with running backs. They paved the way.

Thank you...I have always thought that Cobb was one of the best RBs we've ever had...fast, strong, could cut on a dime...and Webb--who knows where his ceiling was....in fact--I think Chuck Webb would be the perfect back for our current offense...

Fournette, to me--has everything....I think he's a cross between Bo Jackson and Hershel....and after watching the replay of the LSU--Bama game--he was just 1 step and a few missed holes from breaking at least 4 long runs...

I truly think that Hurd can grow into a back like Fournette...barring injuries...

I think that Henry--although he does have some jukes--runs with "stiff hips".....he seems too rigid of a runner...

GO VOLS!

Yes Henry is very upright running and has very tight hips.

Sacks are NOT rushing attempts.....and Dobbs earned his yardage to negate his sacks on DESIGNED runs....Just how many designed runs did Coker have???

some of you on here just lack any concept of footballl IQ.....all you know is how read a list of numbers instead of using your brain to actually evaluate what happened in the game....

For the box score--statistically speaking--We outrushed Alabama....IF you did not watch the game....

From ACTUAL reality--and game performance--Alabama was more effective running the ball than we were....and Henry gained more yardage than our entire team....it's just that simple. Coker got sacked a lot--not because of our outstanding rushing defense--but becuase Barnett and Vereen went into beast mode against Bama's tackles...

If you can't see that--I just can't fix dumb....OOPS!

Here endeth the lesson..:salute:

I agree that sacks are not rushing attempts and the NCAA should adopt the NFL protocol of crediting them as yardage lost by the team passing, but the fact of the matter is that statisticians for all college games still record sacks as yards lost by quarterbacks rushing. Consequently, "pro-style" college quarterbacks routinely end up with negative yards rushing.

It doesn't matter whether you like it or agree with it, and it doesn't matter whether I like it or agree with it. That procedure is not likely to change anytime soon. Officially, Alabama had fewer yards rushing than Tennessee due to the fact that Coker had "-26 yards rushing."

Next time, try to avoid behaving like a jackass. I prefer to accord Tennessee fans more respect than Alabama or Florida fans deserve, but occasionally exceptions must be made.

Those same stats still say that Derrick Henry had 28 carries for 143 yards.....

the last time I checked --28 carries for 143 yards BEATS 39 carries for 132 yards!

You need to stand up because the simplicity of this argument is just flat out flying over your own head...

and I never asked you to respond to my response to Remy in the first place....IGNORE me if you have to, but you need to quit embarrassing yourself with stupid posts....

That's true, but let's look at two things:

1. We'll have an oline that is one year stronger, with a better grasp of the blocking schemes (a big deal when some of the starters are currently freshmen).

2. Our opponents will lose some of their defensive linemen and linebackers to graduation or leaving early for the draft, so the front 7's we face next year will presumably be less experienced.

We're also going to be without our best, healthiest, most consistent Olinemen this year, LT Kerbyson. I'll admit that I'm a bit shocked to have just typed what I did, cause I didn't expect Kerbyson to get it done this year. But he has. So, that'll be a huge question mark for team 120....who's gonna step in and play LT to the level (or even better) than K Kerbyson has this year? Will it be RSFr Richmond? Nobody knows.

Straw man much????[/I][/B]

Look--

1. I don't like CBJ's system...
2. I like CBJ....and want him to succeed....
3. I don't believe CBJ's system will lead us back to an SEC championship--in its current form...
4. I do think CBJ will have to swallow his pride and make necessary changes...
5. I think HURD should stay regardless.....
6. I do believe that CBJ will not be our coach in 2018....IF HE continues his current patterns of game-day decisions....he just flat out chokes in the spotlight of the SEC....

I'm done with you ..... so just chew on your own tongue if you have to or put me on block...I don't really care

CBJ's system almost beat Alabama with less talent and less depth. His system is 17 points from being undefeated with a bad offensive line and all the injuries we've had this year. If we can stay healthy and improve like we have been the last 2 years, we should be playing for SEC championship next year. If the players would have executed 4 or 5 plays better, we would be top 4 team. It isn't the system.

He's not a fan of the system, but he's evolved well (I think). I really think it's the sideways running combined with ineffective blocking (constantly) that has become the frustration.

Yeah well, welcome to football. I wonder if a lot of his frustration is fueled by meddlesome 'uncles' who live vicariously through someone else's athletic ability that he never had.

Yeah Jalen looked really upset saturday, jumping around slapping hands with his teammates. He had a bad game too, only 120 yards and a TD. Hes definitely leaving.

Tara Smotherman @tarasmotherman
@gentry_matt @Rocky_Top_Fever - Um, no. 😂

The above is Jalen Hurd's mothers response to a tweet saying he was transferring. I will take mom's word.

i do, cant have three RB from West Div.

Gotta make it interesting.

I do think that Hurd is a more talented/valuable back than Collins, however I think Collins deserves the all sec team honor more than Jalen. when it comes down to it he just had a better season than Jalen statistically. It's pretty crazy when you think about the lineup of running backs in this conference right now. Hurd, Fournette, Chubb, Collins, Jonathan Williams, Henry, Ralph Webb. I think they're all gonna be on NFL rosters 2 years from now.

Hurd is a good SEC back, but he is not elite the way so many on here try to make him out to be. He's tough and runs hard but doesn't have top tier speed.

henry's long runs are straight down the middle of the field after breaking the line of scrimmage. He gets most of his long runs on 3rd or 4th and short where the defense sells out to stop them. Hurd might not outrun Henry in a 40 but it would be closer than you think. Hurd has much quicker feet in the hole and ability to cut. Hurd will outclass Henry in NFL, barring injury. In fact, I don't think Henry will be all that in the NFL. JMO
