Will Jalen Hurd make an All SEC Team?

Quick question. Last night Henry had 210 yards rushing. How many games has Hurd gone over 200 total yards? I know Henry did it against a great D line at LSU, but pick any of Hurd's games, even to the 4 crap OOC teams he's played so far.

Trent Richardson also ran for alot of yards behind those Bama o-lines.

Henry is a product of the talent around him. Just like Trent Richardson.

Uhhh hurd isn't close to Henry or fournette

Hurd did do a lot better against Alabama though. He had 18 carries for 92 yards. Fournette had 19 carries for 31 yards against Bama. I am not saying Hurd is better but I think Hurd will do a lot better when our OL is better. I also think Hurd will rack up next year when our schedule is as light as LSU's schedule was this year.

Hurd is the best all around RB in the conference. He may not have the best numbers, but he is by far the best blocking and pass catching back in the league. Those skills go along way in the NFL

n There is some evidence to support this point of view. Mark Engram anyone? Seen him on any all pro lists? Lacey is a solid RB at Green Bay (probably the best pro RB to come out of Bama under Saban to the NFL). Trent lost in mediocrity somewhere in the NFL. Henry is another one, the guy is way soft for the NFL at his size, he'll be ok, nothing special. Fournette, different story altogether. Hurd it's a toss up IMO.

Well, there's a good chance Hurd may not be coming back after this season, so we'll see how well Alvin runs up the middle next year.

Great back and definitely fits the system better, so we'll see.

I just died a little on the inside :thud:

Guys with great college careers that struggle in the pros were never good to begin with.

So Tim Tebow was never any good? How about Andre Ware? Ken Dorsey? Danny Wuerffle? Joey Kent? Marcus Nash? Kijana Carter? Brian Bosworth?

My God man you cannot be serious with this crap.

Ingram is on pace for 1,000 yards on a bad team that throws 40 times a game. He's a fine back.

Lacey is exceptional.

T J Yeldon is on pace for 1,000 yards as a rookie on a horrible Jacksonville team.

I think it's a tad early to label Henry an NFL bust before he even does his pre workout stretches for the NFL combine.

Hurd is a good SEC back, but he is not elite the way so many on here try to make him out to be. He's tough and runs hard but doesn't have top tier speed.

Don't know what you are talking about. Henry makes long runs when the defense is stacked up close and he clears the Los running straight down the field Hurd never gets that chance cause teams know they can beat this OL with 4 DL and a lb. Hurd gets outside better than Henry or Fournette.

Hurd clearly leads in yards after contact. Not close.

I don't think there is a nickel's worth of difference between their size, strength, or speed..."just is what it is."

CBJ has confirmed that Hurd weighs 242 lbs which is nearly identical to what is reported about Henry. Most sources list Henry running 4.5 40, while Hurd's time varies between 4.37 to 4.5.

I've seen where Henry can squat 500 lbs, but I haven't seen Hurd's numbers listed anywhere. It looks like Hurd has much bigger legs so I would guess similar or better numbers for Hurd.

Go on a 'Bama site and they constantly complain that if you just touch Henry below the waist, he will fall down (above the waist is an entirely different story!).

Put Hurd behind 'Bama's line and see if you don't get similar or better numbers.

1. I was one of those touting Hurd's speed coming out of highschool as 4.37...saw a video of him allegedly running a laser-timed 4.37.....after watching him for 2 years now he looks much closer to 4.57. As for Henry, all I know is when he gets to the second level, he just runs away from defensive backs.

2. Yes, they're virtually identical size-wise, so I erred in saying Henry is bigger. That being said, he looks much bigger than Hurd to me, especially in his upper body. Heard Swain express the same thought recently.

3. Bama fans are complaining about Henry?? Jeez, those guys are idiots....1254 yds, 5.75 ypc, 17 tds thru 9 games...yeah, that guy just drops like a bag of dirt when he gets hit. Lol.

4. Yes, I certainly agree that Hurd's numbers would be much better behind a better OL than UT's. However, Jalen has had multiple opportunities to break off long runs when getting to the second level in his time at Tennessee and has yet to house one. By contrast, when Henry has gotten into the second level at Bama it's typically wound up in a foot race to the endzone that he's consistently won.

Definetly doesn't follow Tennessee football

74 is connected.

I'm sure JH is frustrated... Kinda like Murray in Philly.. I just don't know how smart that decision would be when he could be a pro after his JR yr..

Murray just had 150 total yards and a touchdown. Lol? Hurd doesn't touch that.

Care to elaborate? We NEED Jalen next year!

 Isn't it a little past your bed time, kiddo? You can't just throw out a couple stats out of context and base your entire claim off of it. Alvin is a hoss, no doubt. But don't get it twisted, Jalen will play in the NFL for many years.

I understand Jalen's concern 100%. He's a power back who deserves to have at least a set where he can have a solid lead blocker. I think that's part of the reason we've seen the guards pull a lot more. But when the O-line is , at best, average, that doesn't quite cut it. All that said though, transferring and sitting out a year to enter the draft or delaying it by a year to get in a different system doesn't make a ton of sense. Especially with an improved O-line and a top 15 roster coming back next year.
