Will Jalen Hurd make an All SEC Team?

I was just wondering will he, looking at the numbers it seems like Fournette, Henry, and Collins all might be ahead of him. I know its insane but with an impending 1,000 yard season, I'm not sure their is room for him.

Probably not this year, but with a good Oline, Hurd could be another Derick Henry or very close, no?

With Chubb missing a big chunk of the season, Hurd will most likely end up on the second team of both the AP and Coaches All Sec teams.

I think he may make third team but LF, DH and AC may keep Hurd out of the all sec team this year.

I've not noticed Collins, but the other two, are on teams with better records, so I think they would get the nod. It could happen.

He's 7-8th in ypc comparing backs with significant numbers of carries.

He holds a slim margin at 5th in the leage in rushing, so I doubt it.

He's not too far ahead of Chubb

It depends on how many rbs are put on each team (1st, 2nd, etc). If 2 per team, he should be 2nd team. Henry and Fournette 1st team. Not sure of his stats but along with Hurd....Collins, Taylor, Walton would be fighting for 2nd team.

Hurd is a good SEC back, but he is not elite the way so many on here try to make him out to be. He's tough and runs hard but doesn't have top tier speed.

Aren't there two RB's per team? If so, then he'll make second or third team. If there's only one per team, he probably won't make it. Just speaks to the sheer depth and talent that this league has at the position. Hurd is a stud and probably only the 4th or 5th best back in the SEC.

Hahahahaha!!!! Dude just stop it. Hurd is a fine back , but to say he's "so much better than Henry"....dear God alive, give it a rest. Henry's a bigger, stronger, faster athlete than Jalen....just is what it is.

While sharing runs with another back AND the quarterback, behind a near bottom of the barrel caliber run blocking offensive line.. He still manages nearly 100 a game. He might not be right, but imagine if he was the only guy getting carries behind a line who could actually block.

Look, Jalen is an outstanding SEC running back in a scheme that limits his effectiveness IMO. He also has had the misfortune to run behind an awful line last year and a subpar one this year. There's no doubt about that IMO. All I'm saying is that when guys start getting on here and saying that he's far better than arguably the best running back in the country, and saying it's "not even close"....that's a ridiculous statement. Jalen, were it not for Henry and Fournette and Chubb, would likely have been considered the best back in the SEC coming into the season. He's a strong, powerful back who runs incredibly hard, is great in pass pro, and has excellent hands....and I'm thrilled he's a Vol. I badly wish he ran behind a better OL in a better offensive scheme. But that doesn't mean I'm just gonna lose all honesty and ability to judge what I see from other players who don't wear orange and white. Jalen is better than every other SEC back not named Derek Henry, Leonard Fournette or Nick Chubb IMO.

As far as sharing carries with another RB (Kamara), not really. Hurd averages about 21 carries per game, Kamara only about 6. I'll give you Dobbs, but the more effective Dobbs is, the better Jalen should be.

Henry has skinny legs. If you watched more than the highlights you would see he gets tackled rather easily in the backfield when his o-line isn't opening up huge holes. Jalen on the other hand has huge thighs and a great leg drive. I rarely see one defender tackle him in the backfield.

And while I agree with you that Henry has better top end speed than Hurd, he doesn't accelerate through the hole with as much burst as Jalen. Did you see the acceleration Hurd showed on that run yesterday when he got the edge? Had the announcers gushing about his burst for such a large man. Plus they talked about how he runs low and with great pad level.

Henry doesn't do that. He runs high. Doesn't have great pad level. And doesn't show the same burst and acceleration that Jalen regularly shows.

Jalen will be a much better pro than Henry.

i'm greatful Hurd is a VOL.........but i'm not sure he is "so much better" then Henry! It's too hard to compare b/c the o-lines on each team are so far apart. Our's being better this year but still not very good. JMO

Hurd's longest run from scrimmage is 35 yards - that does not scream elite speed. That's getting caught from behind by LBs a lot. For comparison, Kamara and Dobbs both have runs that almost double Hurd's longest.

Maybe.

Fournette and Derek Henry 1st team.

Alex Collins is a lock for 2nd team. The other vote I couldn't call. They could honor Chubb with it. Sony Michel, Jalen Hurd and Peyton Barber have all looked great this season.
