Will increase in Tickets prices/students paying for tickets be Fulmer's worse enemy?

I dont think I have seen anyone mention this point. I have seen a whole lot more negativity this year with the recent blunders. I think that perhaps the new ticket prices and charging students this year can be a big reason why fans/students are so negative with the booing and everything else. I thought things were bad within the public in 05' but this year by far takes the cake... your thoughts?

Why not have an imaginary game. Charge everyone 57 bucks a ticket (based on 105,000 people) to pay for Fulmer's 6 million dollar buy-out.

I might agree if the prices were out of line with comparable schools. The only difference is the product on the field

Student's (parents) paying for tiks has nothing to do with CPF.

I don't think higher ticket prices has anything to do with it either. It's what's happening on the field.

It has nothing to do with him directly... however true or not, many students i run into claim that "ticket prices were raised so Fulmer could have a raise". I have heard that with 90% of the people I've talked to.

If they pay fulmer and his coaches $10 million in buyout money, look for another big increase in ticket prices for funding.

Many students have bought their own tickets. And I think it is a factor judging by the comments in the student section. Have you spoken to students about it?

If students are having trouble paying for tiks, I doubt they are spending a substantial amount inside.

Point is, it was the University that instituted the changes. I seriously doubt they asked CPF for his input.

If UT needs a lot of cash for the buyout, can they raise tuition to pay for it? Maybe $100 per student?

Please don't mistake the "University" for the Athletic Department... they operate as separate entities. It was an athletic department decision.

that an overwhelming majority of AD's are currently doing. UT was one of the few still letting students in free.

Here is my take - The UTAD is attempting to drive down student participation in games, even if only a little. When student attendance dips, the UTAD will use that as an excuse to reduce the student allotment (see UT basketball last year). UT fans (or folks wanting season tickets for their business - a write-off) have shown they are willing to purchase tickets no matter the price. I think there are only 4,000 tickets left for tomorrows game against NIU.

Same thing is going on with the UT faculty. The UTAD drastically increased the amount that faculty are required to pay also.

They can slowly push out the discount tickets (students, faculty, grandfathered) for full-value tickets = more cash for the UTAD.

Soon it will end up similar to a pro-style audience. When they are winning - plenty of asses in seats. When they're not... a ghost-town.

A pretty cynical view - but I have been around UT athletics for a while and have watched this scenario slowly play out for years.

I agree - I was paying for tickets at Bama (I hate to admit that I went there - only one semester though) in 1994.

So back to my original point. Do you think the athletic department or anyone else asked CPF what he thought about charging students?

I, obviously, have no way of knowing. My guess is no.

I was simply answering the OP.
