every job that opens scares me that coach will be offered the position. we need to keep him at all cost. I don't have any info concerning the Hoosier job but it's just a matter of time before the offers start pouring in. I hope our AD is ready to step up and do what is necessary to keep Coach Bruce Pearl a vol for along time

Money will not be the reason he leaves or stays. He will leave after his perceived "job is done" or when a much more prestigious program comes knocking.

He doesn't seem to be on the radar of a lot of their fans. And Indiana is a place that doesn't like to pay their coach much; they have the attitude that it's some sort of privilege to coach there.

That team is good, and eventually they're probably going to all be so pissed off that they'll take it out on whoever they play. Dan Dakich will probably end up being the next Steve Fisher. He's already got a leg up because he's a demi-god in Indiana for one great game he played against a tongue-wagging UNC guard in 1984.

It's possible they will go after him. Lots of colleges will. I don't think he is going anywhere. I think he appreciates UT giving him the opportunity that they did and he has a lot of business to take care of before he leaves. I do see him coaching in the NBA one day, but not another college.

You might be right, but I don't really see what he would have to gain by going to an Indiana or a University where you are expected to win in Basketball. I think he likes the challenge of building a program that isn't use to winning.

Well I can tell you his name IS coming up and coming up alot over the past few days. Alot of people in Indiana are already aware of BP of what he accomplished at Southern Indiana. People in the southern part of the state love this guy, he made many connections and many many friends.

Sports talk shows all over the state are going nuts and the #1 name that pops up in conversation is BP.

Per an IU trustee that I know very well, they realize Dakich is the short term answer for the rest of the season, but not for good. He is a great assistant but not a great head coach. He did not exactly light it up at Bowling Green. Former Hoosier Randy Whittman, the head coach of the T-Wolves will be a big name brought up. The trustee that I spoke with late this afternoon at work made this comment to me, "You are not going to like this, but I am a big fan of your coach at Tennessee." NOT WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR AT ALL!

UT better be prepared to whip out the checkbook, because IU will be prepared to finally pay for a big time coach. When the season ends, they will make a play for BP, I just hope they fail in that attempt. You can't blame BP if he does take a look at it, but something tells me we are going to see him in that orange jacket for years to come....I hope at least.

But don't blow off the rumors or comments about BP and IU. He IS on their radar and why wouldn't he be?

Bruce is here for a while. What other school in the nation is likely to shell out for facilities like UT has? Are you kidding? He has the chance to be the next Coach K... or the next Pat Summitt.

I don't see him leaving at all, I was just pointing out that as we all expected, the Indiana fans are drooling over him

I think Bruce will stay. He seems genuinely happy to be here, and with all the renovations and improvements made to the facilities and arena he knows he has support. I think tradition is over-rated in terms of job prospects, but if Bruce finds that important I'm sure he will tell us like it is instead of pulling a Saban.

Cronnin(sp), the women's athletic director, has already said that whatever raise Pearl gets, you can expect Pat to get a similar bump. So in essence, if you pay Pearl $2 million, you're really paying $4 million...:ermm:

Is that a bad thing? Of all the people who are in or have ever come through the athletic department at the University of Tennessee, Pat Summitt has accomplished the most.
