Will Heupel Handle The Pressure?

Come on now folks.....Where did all those 9-3 predictors (before the first game was played) run off to?????

He is used to winning. How is he going to handle when the fans start to become impatient, and the media starts to ask tougher questions.

I’ll be honest I like him but he seems to get aggravated when you press him on anything. Curious how he will handle losing the next 5-7 games.

If the fan base and media ask any tough questions this season, then that’s beyond ridiculous.

Oh wow what a great post. So you wanna trash on people who thought this team would be good? How classy 🙄

No....Just calling them out for telling me I was crazy for being realistic of a 5-7 season or 6-6 at best....And laughing when I said we lose to Pitt. Many folks seemed to do an about face after the Pitt loss (that should have been won). Being realistic as much as that may hurt your feelings is what it is. I will take reality over classy every single day, Our dose of reality of the "flash and dash" offense will come down to earth starting on Saturday when we see how it holds up against SEC teams as good or better than us. I will accept the record this year regardless of what it is because the team is definitely playing better than the last 3 seasons. and others. And we will be better next year.....But still not a 9-3 team next year. But there's no way that we (me) seriously could even think it was a 9-3 season this year!!!!

He may have come to Knoxville from UCF, but he was groomed as a player and assistant at Oklahoma. He knows what big time pressure at big time programs is like. In fact, he was the QB there when they turned it around after a decade-long slumber. Seems like experience that translates well to the current situation at Tennessee.

Fans and media can say whatever they want. When he was hired he was sold on a five year plan to turn this thing around. We even knew going in the first couple of years would be trash bc of the investigation and potential punishment hanging over our heads. Now I do think there is a difference between knowing the pressures and difficulties and living those pressures and difficulties. White and Heupel better be ready bc it’s going to be a rough road turning this thing around.

It’s interesting that someone can say this team will struggle to beat Pittsburgh before that game and get a lot of crap for it but if you give our delusional sunshine pumpers any grief, you’re a terrible fan. Anyone that thought this was a great team was absolutely delusional.

No one expects us to win this game. There will be no stress. He will likely just be pissed off because who really likes to lose?

He'll handle the pressure like a grown man. First, he will not tell anyone about the tension building inside of him. He will push all the stress down and keep it bottled up. He will turn to drugs and alcohol as a coping mechanism until the strain is too much. And once his mental and physical health is obliterated, he will have a heart attack just like a real man does.

Nah...he'll be fine.

Damn...

I'm here. I leaned more towards 8-4, but I was confident and thought UT would have better QB play. Is there a point to your post?

So you have written off the next 5 to 7 games to set up a hypothetical of how he will respond?

How about it being a good thing that he doesn't like trivial/redundant questions and endures it much like other coaches? What if he's already jaded with the UT sports media and the way they twist things and complicate management of player issues? What if his stress is simply because he doesn't like to lose and would like to be singularly focused on finding ways to win rather than being asked questions that the reporters know he cannot or will not answer?

But is he? As a coordinator he was 11-14 at Missouri. In his last 11 games as a head coach he’s lost 5 games. His three years as Head Coach at UCF they got worse each year.

He’s lost plenty. We’re not talking about Urban Meyer here.
What's it to you? Seriously. I often enjoy your transparent, if demented, fanship for UF... but how about staying on that side of the line when it comes to a topic like this.

His team was worse in the Covid year almost exclusively because their defensive results went down sharply following the loss of players who sat out, caught Covid, or were otherwise injured. In '19 they lost some of the close games they'd won the year before. Not really much of a drop off at all when you look at production on either side of the ball. Some times the breaks of the game go your way. Sometimes they don't.

He may very well fail magnificently at UT. But no reasonable human being would try to paint what he did at UCF as anything but success.

The real question is, can whiney negavol fans take anything, even a win, without finding something to whine or complain about?
