Will Heaps commit to us this week?

I wish our staff was higher on Scroggins. He looks as good or better than Heaps. I think since Kiffin has been on Heaps since day one, and probably promised him the job, he feels less inclined to pursue Scroggins. I know we have offere him, but did anyone from the staff pay him a visit this week? Or is there a plan to visit him during this period?

Chaney visited him this week either yesterday or tomorrow

Shouldn't we expect Kiffin to pull in two stud/ highly ranked QB's as we were doing in the 90's? You just never know if the kids are going to turn out as advertised. As you can see from UT's current qb situation, having only one highly ranked 5* qb recruit on the roster isn't enough (crompton), since you never know if they will pan out.

Thus, i think getting Heaps would be a great start, but UT needs to sign two highly ranked QB's becuase only one of them will likely turn out to be a quality QB in the SEC.

In the radio interview did anyone else notice he said:

"I enjoy the offense. I believe who I'm going to be coached by is going to coach me up real well."

Couldn't he have said "I believe who I'd be coached by" instead...

I am positive that we will be getting a top notch recruit this year. We have to be one of the bigger schools out there with a real need for a top recruit at the QB position.

If we weren't pretty certain we could get Heaps, we would have already gotten commitments from Scroggins and Hendrix.

Heaps sounds hyped up about UT. We are defintely in the race, and the obvious choice for Heaps is to come to UT. He would be a monster under our coordinators and Kiffin

If you're a QB, I don't see why you wouldn't come to UT. You would face very little competition, and the only competition you face would really be against other incoming freshmen.

His size concerns me. Hope one of things the in home resolves is whether he's actually 6'2" or not.

Just based on the various posts and news articles... there's others I think would be better for UT.

6'2 is fine. Why is 6'3 good but 6'2 isnt? He may not be a typical NFL QB - but he'll be fine for college where ever DT or OL isn't 6'6 like in the NFL.

Heaps on Tennessee:

On Tennessee: "I really believe in coach (Lane) Kiffin and their staff and what they're trying to do down there. I believe that they're going to get the talent around there. The community support and everything down there is just unbelievable. They have one of the nicest facilities in the country and their fan base is telling them it's not good enough. So they're getting it all revamped. They're getting $80 million new facilites and everything. I enjoy the offense and I believe in who I'm going to be coached by and I believe who I'm going to be coached by is going to coach me up real well."

Hopefully Reaves will be able to close the deal this week while in Washington.

This part makes it seem like his mind is made up. Sounds like UT to me.

Exactly. If you listen to the interview, he really sounds passionate when he starts talking about Tennessee. The way he says "ummm... and then tennessee" (or something like that) almost makes me think he's trying to cover it up and not make it obvious.

I'm hoping what i pointed out may be a slip up on his part that's indicative of his future plans.

At the 7 on 7 in Las Vegas where Heaps competed, Scroggins team won the event and Scroggins was MVP. Heaps stock went down some.

Here is what Scout said about it:
Heaps looked every bit the No. 1 quarterback in the country on Saturday in leading his team to a 3-0 record, but an upset loss in the first round of the playoffs sent the No. 1 seed home early.

Scroggins and his teammates got off to a slower start on Saturday as his receivers were having difficulty holding on to the ball, but on Sunday, everything clicked as Team 4 from California knoc

But like I said earlier, Matt Barkley sit this event out last year for fear that it would hurt his stcok like it did Heaps'...

I like Scroggins as well. He looks very impressive.
