Will Fulmer get booed?

I'm thinking he is going to receive some major jeers and the like during the vol walk.

But when they announce him at the beginning?

I'm thinking, yes.

No... the proud people of East Tennessee wouldn't do that. This isn't Bama. Fulmer and the players deserve respect during the Vol Walk. Now having said that, if Trooper starts carrying on with the chest bumping and what not, I've heard several people make mention of being miffed if that goes on this week.

Now that is when it could get ugly... :ermm:

I hope we don't boo Fulmer, he deserves better than that... after all he has brought us some great times and great memories. As disappointed as I am at his coaching abilities, he doesn't deserve that kind of treatment. I want him gone, but I really hope that we can part ways amicably.

So it's okay to bash the coach and call for his head on internet message boards, newspapers, on television, the radio, etc.....but it's classless to boo him at the actual game?

Isn't that a bit hypocritical?

All of these people that are calling for his head SHOULD boo him. They should boo the defense, they should boo David Cutcliffe, and they should boo anyone else that makes another idiotic mistake on the field.

That's not classless, it's a part of sports. I think it was Hatvol the other day that said if you buy hats, shirts, memorabilia, tickets, or anything else, that makes you a consumer. Therefore, you should be able to boo if you want to, support him if you want to, or do whatever else makes you feel better or gets the point across.

What's more classless, booing Fulmer or the team for being average, or just not showing up to the games? Which sends the loudest signal?

Fulmer is a big boy. He can handle some boos. He's handled them before and he'll handle them again. He's even said before about boos, he'd boo too if he paid to watch that. Many coaches say that.

I don't think it's disrespectful at all. If you go to the name calling and donut talk and mocking him, that's a different story.

Voicing your displeasure through boo's isn't anything but just that.

Which would you rather have at work? Your boss telling you how terrible you are and about your mistakes or just booing you? hahahaha That'd be funny stuff.

...but If He Doesn't Perform Like The Others Who Are "veterans" And Make Careless Choices, Then The 'Boos' Are Coming And Should Not Be Complained Against. You Have To Expect It, If You Are A Veteran, An Sec Player, Coach....This Is Big Boy Game...Not Little League Game Here Worrying About Somebody's Feelings.

So did he get booed or what? Anybody with an update?

I heard a few. Not many though. Everyone around that I heard talking about it was saying, "he needs to go".

I think they did a good job tonight, but it was Arkansas State. :hmm:

When they announced the starting lineups and said "now the Tennessee Volunteers, coached by Phillip Fulmer...." there was a pause from the cheering and some boos. But nothing real bad

That's fine but booing the coaches and players on the Vol walk or anytime before the game has started is purely bush league bs.

If it were possible to boo Coach Fulmer without simultaneously booing the team, I'm sure a lot fewer posters would have a problem with it.

On the post game show he praised the support they received on the volwalk.
That's good to hear. Wouldn't like to think our fine Volunteer supporters had sunk to the level of gator fans.... :salute:

There was some boos when they announced him at the beginning of the game and there was more when the coaches elected to punt on 4th and short later in the game. I don't know about the vol walk since I wasn't there for it. Colquitt mentioned the boos on the punt during his postgame interview.

Speaking of booing on 4th and short. . . this is UF's new MO. I honestly think that we need to get out of the Holtz frame of mind when he punted on 3rd down and get into a frame of mind that involves victory. I don't see us go for 4th down plays at all. . . I require more spunk. I guess thats for another day. Good game Vols; rest up and get ready, the entire SEC is knocking at your doorstep.

..I'd rather see us make it on 3rd and short and not be in that position at all.

We were at the Vol Walk, and everyone was cheering the team and coaches. Fulmer looked very happy and was shaking hands with people, etc.
The only thing I noticed was that Chavis looked VERY unhappy, and kept his hands down to his side the whole time. He would not even acknowledge anyone or shake anyones hand, and people were trying to, but he basically ignored them. (at least where we were at)
