Will Friend next OC if

Will Friend might be a great coach, but I'm praying for someone not connected with this years' O-line. I'd love to see a big hire, but I don't expect it because Vols don't do that. If it is Friend (still hoping it's not), you would think it would have been announced ASAP for continuity in recruiting. And to prevent Grumours...

I posted this in another thread and may be false but he goes on to say that if Friend is hired, they would have to fall way down the list.

But I know for a fact he believes that the O-Line coach shouldn’t be the one chosen as OC. I Don’t follow the ins and outs of Tennessee football like you do but I do have a pretty good line of info hahahaha. I’m really thinking mcelwain is a good fit. It will all depend on all the details I’m sure."

This from my old football coach that i have kept up with over the years. He now coaches with Pruitts dad. No, i will not reveal who he is and i did not ask for any information. I never have any information so this is mine for the next 10 years. Take it or leave it, idc.

Unfortunately, we have fallen way down the list on a lot of hires during the last 10 years. I was hoping that the lists would be better and shorter.

I don't disagree with that but i think Enos would be higher on the list than Friend of what he says is accurate. Jmo

To be fair, im not sure if he was giving that name out as someone he heard or his opinion. I think he just asked about Friend amd found out that was unlikely but i didnt ask. I dont pry someone for information like that. He either tells or dont.

If you're unit op still do not know what to do on a specific play in the 12th game of the season, you failed as a damn coach.

Everyone here on VN seems to be stuck on how strong/weak we are. The absolute biggest problem with this O line was they didnt k ow WHO to block far too often. Almost every play that we got stopped in the backfield was a blown assignment not because someone got their ass whipped at the LOS. This is 100percent a coaching issue.

Will Friend was their coach thus Will Friend failed and no more deserves to be the OC than I do.

So you believe it's purely a lack of talent that has olinemen standing around not blocking anyone, and not pursuing their blocks?

Well I have heard jeremy pruitt talk about guys standing around and not finishing blocks on every jeremy pruitt show I have watched so yes that tells me he doesnt have anybody that can do that. I know they are being to told that everyday. So if they tell them and show them and they cant do it. It is the players. At any place there are good players they wouldn't be playing because if they cant do it you find somebody that can. We dont have anybody else to put in. Again its lack of talent.

When they hire one that can coach their players to at least be competent. Maybe still get ran over by bigger, stronger, more talented players but at least know who to block. Get their hands on the right guy and quit standing around.
