How many more yards does he need to get the record? And I hope Fulmer sees now that Foster does have a fumbling problem. And man do they come at the worst times! I feel for the guy cause he is a quality back but I think at this point the fumbles might be getting in his head a little.

I think he needs about 4 hundred and some change... maybe less. and Foster gets a bad rap on the fumbles.. sat against auburn was Crompton's fault completely.

I disagree totally with this. I know Foster has had key fumbles, but the one in the Florida game last year was credited to Ainge, and the last two this year have been credited to Crompton. It's Arian's job to look up field, not to adjust to a ball that isn't put right in his bread-basket.

That said, I think he reaches the record with ease, but due to his fumbles, he will never be thought of as one of the best backs at UT by fans. I think he is one of, if not the, best receivers out of the back field that we've ever had. (yes, better than Charlie Garner) And that aspect of his game is not being utilized nearly to it's potential which is obviously a knock on Clawson.

As bad as we have been this year, I think we are really lucky to have a back of Arian's caliber wearing orange.

He needs 326 yards to become UT's all-time leading back and in my mind he will always be one of the best.

Well said. I think he will break the record by a couple hundred and I think with a change at quarterback, we wont see much more of this the rest of the year.

Cromptons fault Arians fault, no matter, he has earned his rep and he was in the play so he will get most of the blame, thats just how it is. It is not by accident that he has the rep as a fubmle machine. It would be different if his fumbles came at the 50 yard line on a first down when we are up by 21. But his seem to come when we need ball security the most. I feel for the guy I really do but when people reap what they sow.

Arian has around 30 yards in each of the last two games.

He needs about 40 yards in each of the remaining games.

He may not fumble more than other backs, but he holds the records for number of fumbles that cost UT games. I would hate to see his name at the top of the list of UT backs -- it would bring back too many memories.

He may get out of the dog house later in the year. It would only take one big game against a team like Wyoming, and 5-6 carries in the rest to get the record.

The fumble Sat. looked like Crompton tossed the ball at the last second right through Fosters hands.
Unfortunately for Foster it will be guilt by association and he will not be viewed as our greatest RB.

I'm pretty sure Fulmer was quoted as saying the fumble in the AU game was mostly on Arian.

Fumble Explained: The fumbled handoff between Crompton and tailback Arian Foster that resulted in an Auburn touchdown was a result of Foster holding his right elbow too low on the exchange, Fulmer said.

"It hit Arian's elbow," Fulmer said. "He didn't quite have his elbow up as high as he should have."

Fulmer is on record as saying Arian's elbow was to low and that caused the fumble. :shakehead:

I disagree and Fulmer has proven he is an idiot...Had Crompton got over to the back as he is supposed to then no fumble but he is lazy...I agree that he deserves the record he done the work.

Fulmer got it wrong, I'm afraid. Crompton was late and out of position with the hand-off. He tried to stretch it in there from the side instead of put it on the numbers. How much higher to you need an elbow? His arms were 2 feet apart.

Fault or no fault bad things happen when AF is in the game.......he is a jinx...I tell ya!

I think both were to blame. Crompton didn't place the ball perfectly, but Foster didn't make it easy for him, either. If you go back and watch the very next pocession, when Hardesty receives a handoff, he opens his arms up much wider than Foster and does so well before Crompton gets to him. On the fumble, Foster didn't set up his arms until he was basically at the ball.

he may be innocent on some and only partially guilty on others but there is no doubt that AF has been right in the thick of a number of huge disasters. i don't think it is coincidental.

the biggest to me was the personal foul drive killer against the Gators this year. there is absolutely no excuse for a supposed senior leader of the team to make that kind of move.

Yeah, I think Fulmer is trying to pin this fumble on Arian because it's easy. Another reason why Fulmer must go. That was Crompton's fault all the way.

Fulmer's taking up for Crompton is absolutely nauseating. Why? For a guy that has been known in the past to call players out in the media to motivate them, he sure as heck hasn't been doing that with Crompton. Let's see, Foster has taken a hand-off about 700 some odd times in games alone? Crompton was clearly at fault, Fulmer sticking with him and taking up with him puts his job in jeopardy even more.

people need to be managed differently. Some react to direct call-outs and some need other motivation. Do you really think CPF saying "the QB job is open" is showing complete support for JC?

Its never Spencer McFumble's fault, there are just fumbles at key points of games while he happens to be in.

Foster has merely found the field of play with a bit of luck and circumstances falling his way.

Foster was put on the field due to injuries from Riggs and Hardesty. Coker was clearly more productive but was booted. He is clearly a man of favorable circumstances who found ways to screw it up on the field.

Foster would not be a starter for half of the teams in the SEC. He is slow and has fumbleidous on top of it. This is simple bench Foster and Crompton , play Stephens and Creer , with Hardesty staying second. If you want Foster in play him at full back and he still gives you his ball catchin capabilities. Also I was wondering, Doug Mathews said Coach Cut hand picked the Coleman kid as QB is he not catching on or what?

True, but he had no problem see-sawing quarterbacks with Ainge and Clausen when it wasn't necessary. It certainly couldn't hurt for Crompton to sit a series or two. A wake-up call may do him some good. What he's doing right now is obviously not working.
