Will Eric Berry start as D-back next year?

With all due respect, the kid has never been on the practice field to practice for the VOLS so how in the world would anyone know this?

he will see playing time most likely.. as for starting.. maybe later in the year as he gets to know the teams systems a bit better.

But yes, this may be a bit early for all this speculation as he hasn't even signed his letter of intent.

He'll compete I think, but not start. Although, I expect him to get some good playing time on defense and could even play some on special teams

He can always play in the mustang package.

I remember someone on here mentioning that he might play WR, did I just dream that?

If he is really as good as advertised, then I think he'll absolutely start. Maybe not the first game, but he will before the halfway point.

Assuming that Hefney and Morley stay at safety and Fellows starts at the other corner, who would Berry have to beat out to get a starting gig? Antonio Gaines, Marsalous Johnson, and Ricardo Kemp? No offense to those guys, as they have played admirably this year, but if Berry is really as good as they say then he should start immediately.

Overly optimistic maybe.Freshmen do step up sometimes.I think I'm just really excited we got someone with such great qualifications and from UGA!

And yes, there is a good chance he may see some Mustang. The coaches are putting in a package for him. He may play WR, QB, RB, CB, KR, and PR next year.

Remember, he has never played corner before. Also remember that D Mo was the No. 1 CB even though he had never played there, and where is he now.

Berry is alot more level headed than DMO. Berry is also a top 5 player while DMO was top 25. Berry has better speed and better hips as well.

he will start. If Jonathan Hefney can start at CB his freshman year then Eric Berry can. As far as DMO he came in when we already had our starting lineup set for the secondary. Berry will be coming in when we lose three cornerbacks. Also don't expect picking up the system to be a problem as Berry is a very smart kid.

Roshaun Fellows should also be on that list, but Berry will definitely compete for the job.

Roshaun had some INTs his freshman year, but I really wasn't very impressed with his sophomore campaign. I hope he's gotten better.

He has the athletic ability of Morley and the football IQ of Ryan Karl. In short, yes he will start as a freshman at CB.

HOW IN THE HELL CAN YOU SAY THAT WHEN HE HASN'T EVEN SIGNED HIS LOI YET????? THIS SEEMS COMPLETELY ABSURD......HE HASN'T EVEN BEEN ON THE PRACTICE FIELD YET????

However, I hope he is wonderful and plays well, but to make this speculation before he is even enrolled into the university seems crazy.....
