He is the biggest playmaker on the team. Does anyone know if they are going to try to work him in on offense or specials?

I dont think he will. Kiff has said he wants him to focus only on learning the new Defense.

FYP

I dont think he will play at all other than D. Depending on how the new atheletes materialize and how they come along, I think we will see a freshman or two returning kicks

I hope not, we have playmakers on offense and ST now. Hopefully they can be developed and get the job done and Eric can just worry about defense.

i think everyone is putting wayyyy too much trust in the new freshmen players... i really dont expect any of them to be HUGE playmakers their first year in colllege... except for maybe BB

We have never used Berry on special teams and we are not going to start now. Kiffin has given no indication that he even uses the Wildcat, and would probably use a player like Jones, Teague or Richardson if he did. It's not like we're acting like the freshmen are all going to be amazing, there are just people who can do close to what Eric Berry can do without having to go back and play defense later. It's not like he did a ton on offense last year.

i will hope and pray every game that eb will not return any kicks or play any offense (even though i would love to see him with the ball in his hands as much as possible)...mostly because if we're good we won't need him to, and also because we have to protect our most important asset and sending him back to return kicks and allowing other teams to tee off on our best player when he's in an uncomfortable situation just doesn't seem like a sound gameplan to me.

i agree 100%. too many players get hurt on special teams, we need eb on d a lot more than we need him on special teams. i don't know ig anyone noticed but on the few returns he had last year he took some pretty good shots.

I think he should return kicks and punts. Lest I remind people that our best db of the past 20 yrs (Dale Carter) was also a top 5 punt returner and top 10 kick returner. Pickens picked up after Carter left and was great at punt returns. History is full of examples of using youe best player to use returns to your competitive advantage.

i think with the athletes we will have this year, plus our coaches actually putting an enphasis on special teams we won't have to use him in the return game.

I don't think so . The Tampa 2 is safety and nose tackle dependant ( I know the middle backer gets all the pub but he is just plug and play really ) Lose EB or Dan Williams and the D is hurting ...bad .

There are so many Running backs , wideouts ...it would be silly to risk him .

Here we go again...Come on...These are the same people praising Oku and Brown...We have playmakers...He plays defense and that is where he needs to be..He has a new one to learn so let's let him learn that first...I am sure Kiff knows where he needs to play and that is with his father on the defensive side of the ball where he belongs and where he will make his money in the future!

I don't think the freshmen are going to save this upcoming season and automatically become stud playmakers in their first year in the SEC, but I think the coaching and development aspect of the new coach/scheme is going to keep it where EB stays on defense and whether you're a freshmen, senior or anywhere in between the offense is going to be better.

I want HIM doing all the hitting.

You are dead wrong; it doesn't take a rocket scientist to return kicks and itl be Nuke's speciality this yr.

I hope not, He is too valuable to the team on defense...I would hate for him to be laid out going after one of Jon Cromptons lazy azzed screen passes and end his year over something stupid.....I believe he'll get PLENTY of touches this year on defense.
