He is in trouble if he doesn't this year.

You are absolutely right. That is the key game- If UT wins , DD has a good chance to survive another year. Lose it , the reverse is true and it should be a very winable game here in Knoxville. I hope we win , even thoughI am not a fan of Sir Orange Pants. Starting over again will be tough and time consuming. I would like to see UT SEC champs again in my lifetime.

This year will be settled by the battle of new coordinators. IMO

1. Can SS continue a solid foundation that Wilcox built and make it better?
2. Can UFs new OC get their O on track?

Or maybe the better question is, (assuming both are successful)

Which one does it quicker? By like mid September. Which ever does may put his team over the top in this game.

Much more likely than Bama. Also more critical. He can survive 2012 losing to Bama. Losing to UF could start a path he doesn't want to head down.
Absolutely right. I think the UF game determines his future here. If he wins and has a decent season, he is assured another year. If he loses things will get ugly.

D's almost always pick up faster than O's. So, by that logic UT wins this year...also, UF will not be abble to cover Hunter/Rogers.

If you can't out-recruit them then you can't beat them.......while we have better talent than when DD took over he has not closed the talent gap one iota. Current ranking has this class as 4th best in the East.

Also CDD/CJC has not out X&O'd anyone in the SEC and has given me any reason to think he can win with the less talented team. Florida is Florida, they have recruiting gold mine there and will recover quickly.

We will have a complete scheme change likely though with the change in DCs. Hunter may not be 100%.

All of that said, this game will define Dooley as a coach I believe more than any other.

We'll likely never consistently out recruit UF regardless of who the coach is. We have to develop/coach better to beat them.

We may not overwhelm Florida with talent very often, but Tennessee can certainly recruit on par with Florida.

It seems that way. Our O will need to be better balanced to be succesful against UFs D. Hunter is still a concern early IMO.

Demps and Rainey are both gone, correct? If so that helps a lot because they have torched our D the last 2 years! We must win the battle up front to compete against any team in the SEC. So here's to wishing for a better run game in 2012!:toast:

If he doesn't do it this year he may not be afforded another opportunity to do so. Not saying it is a make or break, but given that it is the SEC opener, it is a very important game for morale.

Imo. We lost to florida the past two year's due to demps and rainey. Now, There gone along with brantley. We 'should' win big this year. Gbo!

brantley was terrible---I wish he was coming back. Hopefully, UF's new QBs aren't any good.
