i say let the guy coach for another 2-3 years. evaluate the direction of the program. Count how many times the team has finished in the top 25, the talent level, big games won. if the program is NOT headed in the direction of a NC by year 4 or 5 then he should be fired. i have full confidence in Derek Dooley and i think he can get all this done.

Yeah, that's just what UT needs, another coaching change! Anyone calling for Dooley's job before 2014 seriously needs their head examined!!

OP, do you honestly think that there is not talent at GA? GA could be a dangerous team on any given Saturday, their only problem is coaching (or lack of) and very inconsistent play. Doesn't mean they can't come up with a good game and beat someone their not supposed to.

The fulmer way of doing things. You have more talent then the other team but you couldn't beat them with there eyes blind folded.

Not at any point this season will CDD be on the hot seat and really shouldn't be next season. It's like CDD said himself, this year really needs to be looked at as "year one." Last year was "year zero." I think he needs to be given through 2013 to be fairly evaluated. 2012 should see marked improvement and by 2013 we should be seriously making a push at the east (or north or whatever it will be called).
We should absolutely be pushing for the East next year.

Dooley's buyout for his first 3 seasons is $5 million and for season 4 & 5 is $4 million, he will be the coach regardless of his record. He feels NO pressure.

Coach Fulmer was 152-52 in his coaching tenure. He won 75% of his games, 2 SEC championships, and 1 national championship. Please stop saying he couldn't win.

I personally do not think he should be, but I believe the majority of the fan base will be calling for his head if we lose to Georiga at home.

Should he be on the hotseat if we lost to UGA?

I wish this darn foolishness would end. Despite impatient, instant gratification fans who won't or can't understand it took several years to tear down the UT football program and will take several years to build it to a semblance of respectability - NO - CDD is not going to be on the hot seat just for losing to GA. Even Cheek realizes that Harry Potter's magic wand is a fictional object bearing no ability to do what the digitalized movies portrays it to be. Please stop this foolishness.

Coach Fulmer was certainly phenomenal in the 1990s. Those were the days. As for Dooley, until next season I think he pretty much just gets a pass.

We lost to a good Florida team at Florida and people were putting him on the hot seat, so yeah, people are going to be unhappy if we lose to Georgia at home. Personally, I think Dooley would have to have a losing season next year before there would be any real talk of replacing him. Even then though, I think it would depend on how bad of losing season.

Hot seat this year? No. Hot seat next year, if we go winless against our rivals and lose 6 or more games? Yes. Fair, either way? No.

I can guarantee that UT will not lose to Georiga this year, or any other year for that matter. They aren't even on our schedule....

See......
0/08/11 vs. Georgia Knoxville, Tenn.

Go Vols!

Now year 3 being 2012 if we are not at least with 7 wins going into the Vandy and Kentucky games meaning possible 9 win season I would say its warm but not hot. So to answer a ridiculous response like that in year 2 after so much attrition recently. Don't want to start a revolving door of coaches like we did in basketball for several years.
