Will Dobbs look for Jennings over our other recievers?

Dobbs is a valid victorian, remember, he has the smarts to know the scheme. He's got great pocket presents despite the OL issues as well. He'll find the right guy. He won't feed the Pre-Madonnas on the team and he certainly won't overly rely on his reports with players.

This team isn't milk toast.

I love VN for all the wrong raisins.
I'm glad Santa brought Dobbs pocket presents.. Yay!

I took it as looking at Jennings over our other receivers. Understand every QB has their favorite target, but there is a point to where QBs get tunnel vision. Maybe I misunderstood what the OP was saying

He's saying that because Jennings was a QB, Dobbs and Jennings developed a supertwin power and Dobbs will therefore not look towards upperclassmen North, Pig, Pearson, Croom, Smith or Johnson... but instead towards the raw but promising Jennings.

Because they were QBs together for one magical spring and have a great report with each other.

Dobbs will probably want to target the open receiver............I'm no expert, but that's probably going to work out better for him and us. Just my .02

If Jennings can't be stopped... YES!

Seriously, I honestly hope there is a hot "go to" receiver in every game.. This means we have found and took advantage of mismatches.

Just like most NFL QBs, he'll target the guy that consistently brings the ball down... even if he's somewhat covered.

But with that said, I feel like even when we go to 4WR sets, we have 4 good playmakers. Croom/North outside and Pig/Pearson inside? Yeah, he'll get the ball to who is open.

It's a completely different matter, however, to assume Jennings will be that guy. As a true Freshman. That was a QB in the Spring. Jennings may develop into that guy but I don't see him forcing North/Croom/Pearson off the field.

QBs have favorite targets for 2 main reasons. First, the guy is talented and gets open more often than other options. Second, the QB and WR develop a chemistry. I think the OP's question was whether or not Dobbs and Jennings will have that chemistry for Jennings to be the go-to-guy. Not whether Jennings should be targeted because they are best buds, regardless if he's open or not.

Not advocating tunnel vision either! :stop: But even great QBs have a go to guy whom they trust to get open.

Then I would say no, Pig will be the go-to receiver for Dobbs IMO. Pig knows the routes and there has already been experience between the two. If Jennings picks up the routes quickly, then it's possible, but I think the relationship Dobbs already has with Pig on the field will show in targets.

I agree. :eek:k:

So Dobbs should be focusing on one receiver over the rest? That will work well, probably will be very successful and throw no interceptions. Spreading the ball around and not keying on one target will result in success.......not the opposite. Pick up your knuckles when you walk

Last year Dobbs clearly developed a nice rapport with Pig and appeared to be looking for him/trusted him more than some of the other receivers. Worked out pretty well IMO. I'm pretty sure this is in the same context that the OP was suggesting....not that he would n lock in only on JJ and refuse to throw the ball to his other receivers.

I can't name my source, but someone close to the program told me that Dobbs will only hang out with players who are current/former QBs. He has a disdain for WRs and tries his hardest to avoid befriending them.

You need to get a better source. This is absurd. One of his best friends is Marquez North. What possible sense does this make?

Edit: did I miss a joke or some sarcasm here? Had to have.

Especially for the strong reports we have with each other! :birgits_giggle:

We keep hearing that they want to play Hurd and Kamara together. I also imagine Ethan Wolf will see plenty of time. That kind of limits how many receivers will be in the game. With Pig, North, Von, Malone, Smith, and Croom getting the majority of snaps I don't really see Williams or Jennings playing a lot unless there are some injuries.

For all in tents and porpoises you missed a joke. AFAIK. TIFWIW, IMO.

OP: North is Dobbs' roommate, so if he's going to play favorites that'd be the more likely choice.

Jennings will maybe get a handful of meaningful plays a game. It will be another year or two before he's a useful weapon. I do see him making a few nice plays this year, perhaps getting a chance to return kicks or punts.
