Shifty? Keep in mind he was body-slammed by AJ Johnson at practice

And lived. . .

The way I interpreted CDD's remark was that was a sort of test on his shoulder (and overall toughness). Since he came through ok, seems he passed the test. I expect we'll see what he can do on Saturday.

ps I would like to see him block a punt!

if not mistaken, DY does block a punt on highlight video. just sayn.

I don't understand this debate. Why are people so invested in DY being the next superstar or on the other side of the argument a complete waste of a scholy? Just because he is a home town boy doesn't make him either a great, good, average, or terrible player! I for one am curious to see him in action... not because I think he will be "special," but because I don't know!

I guess I understand the one's rooting for him more than those rooting against him. If you've seen him in action (no matter what the competition might have been) and he looked really good, I can see how you are rooting for him to do the same thing at UT. What I don't get at all is why any UT fan would be against the kid when he hasn't even been given a chance to do anything yet? what gives?

Thought this was kind of interesting. It's video highlights of Barry Sanders Sr. in high school. To be honest, the shiftiness and speed displayed by Young look comparable, if not better, than that displayed by Sanders. And Sanders looks about the same size as Young coming out of high school. As for competition, BS came out of Topeka Kansas, so I can't imagine it was much better than that faced by Young.

Clearly, not saying Young will be anything near Barry Sanders in college, but looking at the two film clips I don't see Sanders displaying much that Young doesn't display on his highlight clip.

I don't think anyone is expecting Young to "carry the load". But throw him in there for a series and see what he can do. Never know till you try.

Jeff Demps is 5'7 and 191 lbs and ran a 10.01 Non Wind Aided 100M and according to the NFL draft scout runs a 4.26 40

Chris Rainey is 5'9 and 174 lbs and according to the NFL draft scout website runs a 4.36 40

Brandon James 5'7 and 186 lbs and according to the NFL draft scout website runs a 4.47 40

Devrin Young 5'7 and 156 lbs and according to the Rivals Profile, runs a 4.5 40

He may grow to be good, but he really needs to "grow" 156 lbs can get hurt too easy (like his collarbone)

I don't think DY is 156 anymore. The kid is looking pretty thick in the pictures I have seen lately. He has got to be getting closer to 170 now.
