That is a VERY interesting claim.

I have disagreed often with VKA going back a while. But he expresses his genuine opinions and doesn't close his eyes to unpleasant realities. I'd say he's pretty much NEVER been concerned whether his posts make him popular or not.

Completely different situation than it was when Dooley was here. A well stocked roster, head coach is not coaching for his job next season, the program is on a big upswing and should be competing for championships sooner rather than later. Should be pretty appealing to a top quality DC. Much more so than it was 4 years ago.

If you mean by not accepting mediocrity and holding coaches accountable then no. Butch has replaced his 2 weakest coaching positions the last 2 years. If our defense improves as much as our offense then this will turn out to be a good move. Butch has done nothing so far to make me doubt the direction he is taking this team in.

It sounds to me like Butch knows what he is doing. He brought most of his staff here from Cincy except for a few and made some good hires for the new folks. He then upgraded his OC, which paid off this past year in improved stats. Now he's moving on in the defensive side of the ball which I expect will pay off.

The guy is very calculated and meticulous in his moves. The team gets better, more money flows in, he gets more money and as a result he gets more money for a staff. Better staff more wins, more wins more money and eventually you become Bama and you can pay top dollar for everyone and everything.

Gotta love the revisionist history...Wilcox gave Doolfus the finger and took a lateral to the west coast....CBJ lets a coach go with whom he is apparently dissatisfied....how are these 2 events similar?????

We actually have talent and playmakers. Butch wants to beat Bama and it starts with defense. The Vols will be in good shape.

Our Defense cost us 4 games this year, not our offense. It's time for an upgrade.

It was a joint effort. If our defense gets a handful of stops late in games, it bails the offense out for not sustaining drives and icing the games......if the offense mans up and gets a handful more first downs, the defense doesn't even have to take the field again to be relied on to get those key stops. Symbiotic relationship....cuts both ways.
