Will Butch pull a Cuonzo

We keep hearing about how much Butch loves the university but he sure ain't going to step down and say he was wrong about anything. He gets praised for his recruiting classes, but if the players aren't right for his system, then what's the point of bringing top 10 classes in. Dooley really didn't care about UT, but he wanted to get paid for losing. Kiffin bolted right before signing day because his "dream job" came open and he didn't care that he left UT in a mess.
Hamilton and Hart were fools for hiring these jokers and giving them huge buy outs. To me, it's time to get a coach in here that truly loves the University of Tennessee. It may not be cheap but don't let him rob the place.

Last thing. You better believe I'll be watching the SC game Saturday, the Vols are playing and I only get to see them play 12 or 13 times a year. I'm not quitting on them but I am sick of MY team being irrelevant and getting laughed at. Winning matters.

GO VOLS.
Dang straight

I don’t think I would compare Butch winning 9 games again to Cuonzo making it to the sweet 16 in his last season. Maybe if he made it to The SEC championship game and left it would be similar, but not another Tax Slayer Bowl Championship.

Of course this is all speculation because logic doesn’t tell anyone he will actually win 9 games this year now.

Zo beat a middle of the pack Iowa, overrated Umass and Mercer. Hardly the standard list of teams you'd beat to get to the sweet 16.

Any idea as to who loves UT so much that they step into this hornets nest without a buyout?

I’m sure a lot of teams are willing to shell out for a coach that everyone mocks and fails to meet expectations.

I hate to be the one that tells you but if CBJ wins 9 games 3 yrs in a row and leaves, he ain't who the national media, SEC network and everyone else is going to paint the fool.

Now, I don't think this team or staff has it in them but if it happens, Big Orange Nation gonna have **** all over their face.

He hasn't won 9 regular season games yet.

If Butch finishes 9-3, I will personally champion his extension and raise. Our first ever 8 loss season is MUCH more likely, at this point.

I didn't say anything about the next guy not having a buy out.
It's time for TN to get their money's worth. Are you still supporting Butch?

Of course he does. And posters on this board calling for this to happen will be crying and moaning because that's all we know how to do. Then we'll hire the football equivalent of Donnie Tyndall. I've seen this movie already. It sucked the first time.

Yeah, you pretty much did.... But to answer your question, I still support the Vols. Am I happy with how we have played this year? Nope. Would I be happy with a 8-4 regular season with a bowl win to get us to 9. Yeah, I probably would be. Do I think that's going to happen? Nope. But I'm going to let the season play out before I call for a public hanging.

Honestly, Butch seemed remarkably calm and relaxed at the last presser. Almost like a gambler who pulled an inside straight draw.

Because he's a natural born bull****ta, probably how he gets some of these recruits, blue font

The media is saying Butch is horrible too. They would have to call themselves out.

If he some how gets to 9-3 and survives does he go somewhere else where the heat is not so high and he feels more appreciated.

I think that he would 'feel' more appreciated here if he developed players and won more games. its ain't all about how someone 'feels' ya know?

He won't get an extension here unless he wins out including beating Bama, which would mean he goes into 2018 under pretty much the same circumstances that Sumlin entered this season even if Currie doesn't come out and say it publicly. We'd be sacrificing the 2018 and probably 2019 recruiting classes and a lot of ticket and merchandise revenue for 2018, and risking Butch running the program down enough that we couldn't attract the same level of head coach candidate a year from now as we can currently attract. If a 9-3 Butch comes back for 2018, it will tell be that the major boosters and UTAD are completely dysfunctional.

Butch hasn't won 9 regular season games at Tennessee.

Hard to do it again when you've never done it before.

Touché. I was referring to his record including bowls but now I see that would actually be 9-4. Quite an eye for detail there...

Pulling a Cuonzo requires a school that is willing to pay you what you get paid now.

Where is that school?

I highly doubt there is a D1 school prepared to hire Butch Jones. But I am positive NO one is going to even get in the ball park of what we are paying him.

This theory has been posted many times and it makes zero sense.

This line of thinking assumes that Tennessee is the only Athletic Dept in the country run by imbeciles. I'm sure there is a Cal out there desperate and dumb enough to pay him.

We asked the same, "Who'd be dumb enough to hire him?", question when Zo was in his last year at Tennessee, too. In steps Cal.

You cant just assume that UT is the only mismanaged group out there. That isn't to say Butch will land a cushy job paying him what Tennessee is, but I wouldn't be shocked to hear Oregon State would give him $3.5 mil to come there right now. A slight pay cut, but he could go there and restart his clock like Zo did at Cal.

It would have to be a smaller school because I don't see a Power Conference school wanting him....
