In my opinion, we will have a legitimate shot to do it next season.
-We have seen the improvments that Ramar Smith, Duke Crews, and Wayne Chism have made so far this season. Just think how much better they will be this time next season. They will have another year in the weight room to get stronger.
-Ramar Smith and Duke Crews have shown flashes of being not just good, but GREAT players. Ramar Smith has gone from being question on whether he was the answer at point guard to potentially being one of the best we have ever had at the position. If he can learn to consistently finish when he gets to the basket, he could be unstoppable. He can already get to the basket against anyone. He also needs to develop a better jump shot, which he can do if he works on it. If and when he is able to do these things, it will only help get Lofton and our other shooters more wide open shots.
-Wayne Chism is another guy who needs to get stronger and more consistent, which I see him doing with Pearl as his coach.
-Chris Lofton and JaJuan Smith will have another year to get even better.
-Josh Tabb is already one of our better defensive players. If he can work on his jump shot, I can see him turning into another JaJuan Smith type player.
-Cameron Tatum will be here to provide a legitimate 3 guy. He is very athletic, and can shoot the ball. I think he will be a key component for the Vols next season.
-We will be a deeper team next season. Lofton, JaJuan Smith, Ramar Smith, Crews, Chism, Tabb, Childress, Tatum, and Howell. That's 9 guys who will see around 10 or so minutes a game. Plus we'll have Brian Williams and Passley who may or may not play much next season depending on how much they improve. And if Pearl takes J.P. Prince or a spring signee, it will only add more depth.
