I loathe Reese. If I never see him on the court again I will be happy. He does however have some hops, and did make some big rebounds and tip outs down the stretch of games last season.
I just can't stand to watch him give up alley oops over and over on defense, and fumble the ball out of bounds on offense.
Maybe Barnes will help Reese with his game. Maybe Reese will benefit from the change. Remember Quentin Chievous and Wes Washpun? Both UT transfers out and both played effectively on NCAA tourney teams this year. I get the feeling Martin wasn't the best at developing and using players to the best of their ability. Not that I know. JMO.
Well, he played like a man against UK....There's a big difference between Hampton and Northern Iowa, at those schools they served much bigger roles which naturally means they were gonna contribute more, it's why they picked those schools. Stick Chievous on UK's roster and how much do you think he contributes? On the flip side, put Reese on Maryville College's roster and he probably averages 20ppg & 15rpg and looks like Lebron.
Martin "developed" just as many as he didn't, so I'm not sure that's fair...McRae, Richardson and Maymon all became very good players, and better than they were prior to his arrival IMO
Are you talking about Reese being tall? Who played center in the SEC at 6'8"? And there are a lot of deficiencies in Reese's game but jumping actually isn't one of them.
8Ok. But I was pointing out simply the fact that Reese is not just some tall oaf standing under the goal catching rebounds that simply fall in his lap. He was/is undersized to play center and yet still rebounded well, mostly because he can get off the floor.
I'm not a huge Reese fan either.

Uhm ok then

He's 6 8 in my world that's tall. Well if he could jump maybe he could get a dunk down but well how many times did he not get the ball above the rim on a dunk? Yeah he can really jump out the gym hahaha.
Are we watching the same Reese? His veritcal is not a high point in his game.. He's got real long arms and is scrappy under the rim. That why he and Armani rebound so well. They never give up.
I was attempting to agree with you. I think Reese can jump. He's slow as hell and has really really bad iq though.
I think if he had spent his whole college career trying to be a 4 instead of a 2 he could have been a much better player. He also should have reworked his jumpshot at some point early in his career. That thing is horrendous looking.
I know you were. I just wanted to get back to the fact that the guy is off base about Reese. Reese's strength are he can do is jump (IMO) and hustle. His talent level has never been overly high. And sadly I think the jumpshot you see is a "reworked" jump shot.
6'8" is not tall for major d1 basketball. I'm sure you know that. As far as dunking the ball Reese has actually had a couple fairly nice dunks in his time here.
If you don't like him that's fine. I don't care but you have decided to complain about 2 things that really aren't true.
Reese is better and more athletic than Steven Pearl was. Reese has proved himself to two entirely different coaching staffs, and he's about to prove it to another. He deserves to be here. For example Winslow at Duke could out jump Reese with his eyes closed and he's 6 6. If Reese wasn't a vol everyone would agree he is terrible. Let's be honest just because the overall talent is down doesn't make him any better. Heck people hated Steven pearl and Reese is no better.
