Will artificial turf be brought back to Neyland.

We're not going artificial. They will spend the next 10 years trying different grasses before they would put in turf.

How about start by cleaning house and get rid of the "Landscaper" and crew who are clearly in over their head. If we do, then just maybe we wouldn't have to spend all that money to re-sod EVERY year.

That's bull****. They need to do what will give us the best surface to play on. That field is a major embarrassment.

Will someone please tell all the idiots out there that think the artificial grass is like the old astroturf they are wrong! It's the way to go nowadays

The artificial stuff these days is space ages ahead of astro turf. Still tho, they're plastic blades of grass sitting on top of ground up rubber tires and sand. Nothin beats grass

I know you're very connected so I definitley believe you. But why is that? Money? Tradition? Does Butch not like it?

There are many reasons why this is the case, suffice to say that there is significant enough pressure on UT that they need to do everything they can to keep a natural surface.

That said, I expect someone else to be in charge of the football field next year. The closed-door meeting on the turf that was mentioned in the media this week? The current groundskeeper was not invited.

UT has one of the top turfgrass programs in the country. The current groundskeeper uses their students as basically free labor, but does not follow many of the methods that are taught. I also expect that to change and for the AD to rely more on the resources present on campus.

Hope the current one is fired - he sounds lazy and incompetent from what you just said BTW while your here DP are those jackets CBJ had on at the game for sale to the public anywhere ?

This may be completely wrong but... pro style teams work better on grass fields while turf benefits speed spread teams. Jmo

If this happened at a country club the superintendent would have been GONE a long time ago...but since UT is a gubment job anything short of pouring gasoline on the field and setting it on fire during a game will not result in any terminations. Gubment don't fire, they only hire.

Can we make the Power T bigger and extend the "cheggerboards" closer to the endzone while we are making field improvements?

Baylor's field looked good at the beginning of their game. When the rain started coming down good, the players were covered in little specks of rubber. I'd rather stick with the natural (and healthy) grass field. We need tarps and/or better drainage. And maybe a different crew.

I watched part of the titans game today their field looked great . So its possible to have natural grass in Tn . I don't want to see turf .

No AstroTurf at neyland!!

For the last time, no one uses ASTRO turf anymore. Field turf is nothing like astro turf, which was little more than green carpet over concrete. Field turf is an advanced system that simulates actual bladed grass. PLEASE stop with the ignorant crap.

And the Titans field gets played on by TSU. This is the best I've ever seen it. Usually looks like a goat farm.

Actually there are several teams that use AstroTurf. OK State for one.
