Will Ainge's knee surgery affect his play next season?

What's the risk with Ainge and the knee surgery he had? Seems like he's going to miss a lot of work with the freshmen WR's and won't be as mobile for a while.

I wouldn't ask this, except he had played pretty poorly as a sophomore after an injury.

He said he felt ready to go for the Orange and White game, but the coaches didn't want him to push his luck.

He might have thought he was ready to play but he still had a slight limp walking across the field at the O&W game. He should be fully recovered now. No worries.

Not the most mobile guy anyway. Didn't take that many sacks. The passing offense is predicated on making quick decisions from presnap and adjusted reads. Mobility shouldn't be an issue for Ainge. He runs as well as Peyton or Casey ever did.

I just don't get why manning never ever got hurt and ainge has gotten injured 3 times

The guy has bad luck and he was put in a bad position buy the coaching staff on the first two injuries. R.S. should have been running the ball out of Tenn. end of the field against N.D. Quarterback draw against S.C. was illadvised as well.

Manning is the master of play action. Hence the naked bootleg touchdowns.

Yeah I'm concerned Ainge wont be able to scramble and throw on the run as well as he did last year when pressured.

I was at the Big Orange caravan last Thursday night. John Chavis spoke there. He stated that Ainge is healthy, and should have no repercussions from his surgery.

If I understand right, the type of injury he had should be helped immediately after the wound from the surgery heals.

As far as mobility is concerned, Ainge isn't slow and neither was Manning. Neither is particularly nimble but their straight speed isn't bad.

Clausen was slow in every physically measurable way to include his arm.

I'm sure it has to affect him at least a little. It's a little surprising though when you look at his pre-injury 40 times to find out that he ran 4.6-4.7. I never thought he was slow, but that borders on pretty good speed especially for a guy that big.

Some guys just get hurt a lot. We ought to be talking about the race between Bonds and Ken Griffey right now to break Aaron's record, but Griffey can't step on the field without pulling something. Bernard King could have been one of the best players of all time, but he couldn't stay healthy. Meanwhile you've got guys like Manning and Andruw Jones who play almost every snap or inning of every season. I don't think anybody knows what it is, but the injury bug just seems to follow some guys around.

Ainge really needs to play 12 games this year. If he gets hurt again, it'll kill his first-day draft propsects.

one bad hit and down he goes could come off limping at least we have a backup qb thats played before.

I wouldn't call him "injury-prone" yet. But if he misses significant time again this year, then you'll hear a lot of that next winter when they're discussing his draft potential.
