Will Ainge ever throw a long pass?

they're not really getting meaningful snaps.

they've obviously decided to go with who is more sure handed thru out the season, not necessarily the fastest guys.

but again, that has more to do with who's catching than throwing.

also consider our def. woes, i think the offense is making a solid attempt to win the TOP and keep our def off the feild as much as possible.
I have'nt seen Kenny miss many passes.......I've seen him be the victim of piss-poor play calling....and I've seen him standing on the sidelines ALOT.....I'm not at practice, but he sure looked like he could run down field and catch a pass to me(when giving him the opportunity)

Agreed. Plus, our defense is terrible at tackling and seems to wear out sometime during the third quarter. Keeping them off the field by chewing up clock with 4 and 6 yard plays is not the worst that could happen.
yeah....let's keep this whole two yard pass thing going. BTW, Cut says Ainge will be someones first round pick. Unless they are covering for an injury that's crap.

Kenny hasn't been able to get caught up on the system until now. Catching the ball and having speed is fine and dandy, but we need players that can operate in the current system that our offensive genius Cutcliffe has masterminded.

Yeah, I'm sure it's just a case of the coaches holding a player down.

Against LaLa, Ainge didn't throw a single pass over 11 yards the entire game. I wish Cut would call some pass plays down the field to stretch the field even if he didn't complete them. Its tough to run the ball when you have 8 men in the box to stop the run.

Separation = long passes. No separation = interceptions.

The bomb to Kenny was a well placed jump ball by Crompton.

There is no need to go long if the receivers aren't in a position to catch it. Throw in the fact that many times defenses leave two safeties back deep to stop long passes. Our offense takes what it gets, which is 5-10 yard passes. I've seen Ainge throw 20 yd + passes more than a few times this year. As long as it equals points at the end, it's fine by me to nickel and dime.

I'd rather keep drives alive and eat clock, because we need to give the other team's offense as little time as possible. Our defense just lets them stay on the field with long drives.
The Tenn staff would love to have you on board. Not picking a fight, but, man that game plan gets you three point wins and bad end blow-outs

I didn't follow that.
I think he's saying that there have been a boat load of injuries to NFL qbs this year so Erik will be in the same position as Testaverde, get a job when someone else gets hurt. Of course, I think said ramblings are absurd..

I think we dink and dunk a little too much, but have you guys actually been at a game and watched our receivers run pass routes? Separation is minimal and you rarely see one of our WR's running free in the secondary. There just aren't many deep balls available out there.

We're eating clock all day long and STILL losing TOP to teams like ULL. Our defense is really playing poorly stopping drives.

That said, if we're going to see bombs from Ainge, it'll be this week. Arkansas is blitz-happy, and there's gonna be a ton of man coverage.

...unless he has an injury that can be fixed, then he is NOT a first round pick. If that is a healthy player that is not having an injury covered up by the staff then he MAY be a second day pick.

Cool....agreed...I hope so

I actually can agree with that. The fact that he's not getting much help notwithstanding, Ainge's performances the past 2-3 weeks have not been what you would expect out of a 1st round draft pick.

I hope you're right. If we get a bunch of ball control drives that result in field goals, I will be throwing up all over my rug.

I'm no expert, but I think if they're bringing 5 or 6 on most plays, then we ought to have some room in the secondary, or at worst, across the middle. That said, you're still gonna have quite a few screens to kinda go above the blitz.

If Ainge goes in the first round of the 2008 NFL draft, I will pay you $100...

What kind of a person actually even thought Ainge was a first round pick to begin with?

Why this week? Statistically, Arkansas's defense is better than Alabama's or Florida's... the same teams our offense dropped 17 and 13 pts on, respectively.

Arkansas blitzes a lot, and we're good at keeping Ainge from getting hit. More, they're out 2 safeties this weekend. If we're gonna go deep, it'll be this weekend. There will be a lot of single coverage that we can hopefully exploit.

I don't think you can write him off just yet. The NFL loves tall guys with good arms.

There aren't many owners out there like Al Davis that would take a chance on a Jamarcus Russell/Daunte Culpepper/Jeff George...
